Voice your opinions, here is mine.

I dont like to judge, but its getting crazy with all the hating so voice them.

I am into the preppy thing, and i dont know why other people hate on it so much, i dig abercrombie / Lacoste / J Crew as well as Pac Sun / Urban Outfiters / and skate shops. I dont like Hollister because of the fake image thing it has going on. But I still dont get why people hate so much because they either like the preppy look, like stores like that, or spend alot on clothes when the people hating dont. Its a personal choice. Voice your opinions. The hating on clothes is getting huge latley.

i think a lot of people on here confuse preppy with just straight up dressing decently. i'm all for rocking ski/surf/skate gear, because i actually am involved in the sports, and therefore support the companies that put back into those industries. however, there's a time and place where the classic "i am a skier" shirt doesnt work. if i'm going out with friends, out to dinner, to work, etc, i tend to dress nicer. personally, i dont consider abercrombie, hollister, or stores like that to really be decent clothing, cause the stuff is all ripped and has their logos and slogans slapped all over it, but thats just me. to each his own, i suppose.

im not really a polo kinda guy...i will only really wear one if it is atleast long sleeve,..and that is still pushing it for me.

i dont know why...but i refuse to buy shit from american eagle or like abercrombie or w/e its called...i just dont like that whole image of poping your collar and shit like that...i just hate those stores and the whole image in general...i would much rather rock a xl plain colour t.

i am as haggard as possible...

shirt- ski/ crazy punk band/ tall tee/ NWA shirt

shorts- plaid

belt- white studs w/ white belt and bull horn/skull buckle

shoes- air force 1's

hat- haggard vintage hat (like from the 70/80/90's) or a fresh white new era

i like to mix and match. its tight and i like to be individual, and plus everyone from every social group can find something to like me about... haha

i love being comfortable in my clothes whether its rockin the lacrosse shorts and tshirt.. or the madras/ seersucker shorts and the polo. i think that certain occasions require a little bit more then just shorts and a tshirt ie. job interviews, dinners, or just social gatherings where its the expected attire. i mean dont get me wrong.. more thenhalf the time i can be seen just chillin in a tishirt and some flip flops, but then again i think its not good to be underdressed for an occasion

I wear everything, from strait up button down collard shirts, polo's, t shirts, whatever, i dress how i feel that day

different situations require a different look. work, dates, certain places/situations i will usually in a polo and khkis or jeans if acceptable, other than that jeans and a t shirt.

as far the abercrombie or ae or hollister i just dont see the reason for paying that much for what they have i can find a nice polo on the sale rack at sears or jcpenny or target. i just wont pay the money they want thats my gripe withthose places

wait you hate hollister but like abercrombie? if they didn't have signs on them I wouldn't know which was which.

People mostly just like to segregate themselves into groups and tend to "raise" themselves above someone else because of something they wear. It just pisses me off you would hate on someone because they wore a certain type of shirt over actually meeting them.

The people who wear abercrombie, hollister, American eagle are the ones that are completely obsessed with self image. Simple as that. Why would you buy those shirts if you didn't? They are fucking expensive as hell. It's the people that are worried about other's opinions of them that wear that shit. From what I have seen, those shirts are usually worn as tightly as possible, in an effort to show off even more. If you wanna wear that shit, good for you, I don't really care. I'm just saying I'm not going to think anything more of you because you paid an extra 10 dollars for a skin tight T shirt. I personally buy sale t shirts and sometimes skiing shirts if it's a company I think is worth supporting.

Not nearly as large of one as hollister does. Every company besides really core companies have a little fake image, because not all the people who buy it are core to what the image is.

some of the people... I care about self image but i am hardly obsessed with it, there is no one who doesnt care about it. everyone likes to have a good image, because no one likes people saying that they look like somthing they arent. For instance you care about not wearing abercrombie, because you believe in not spending that much $$ on clothes, which i understand for sure and i have nothing against. And that gives you the "self image" of someone who doesnt dress preppy and a more laid back image.

You're kidding me right? It couldn't possibly be because I can shop at those stores. Seriously, you are generalizing an entire group with an idiotic statement. What if I LIKE the style and the fact that I don't see any style cheaper or close.

Why do people drive hummers if a geo metro is cheaper?

Why do people have $100,000 boats if you can float in a raft?

that is true, and i have a unch of there stuff aswell, its legit. But i like abercromies clothes and it doesnt come with a huge LOOK AT ME Im A SURFER DUDE thing that the hollister name comes with.

i wear like fit t-shirts w/ whatever logo. shorts. hoodie in the winter and idk jeans or shorts w/ those slip on white vans or classis black adidas. it works i guess

I can back up my "generalization" with personal experiance. At my school, the kids that wear Hollister T-shirts are D-bags. They are usually the jocks with something to prove. It's like "hey, I lift weights all day, so I'm going to buy a shirt 2 sizes too small and show everybody!" I would be willing to bet that almost everyone that buys a hollister tshirt is doing so because they saw someone else wearing it, someone the deem as "cool." You may be an exception, but my personal experiance has taught me otherwise. It may be a generalization, but it is one that many people have, so if you are going to wear those cloths, be prepared to be stereotyped. I'm sure you have stereotyped people from what they are wearing. Have you ever seen someone with a dyed black mohawk, all black clothing and chains and not thought emo? It happens man.

ski/skate L tshirts and jeans. green/white new era hat or big toque

but when im dressing nice..usually either Quicksilver or AE make good button ups without lots of logos. black jeans or pants. black skate shoes.

These arguments are beat to hell, but i hate people saying that hollister is SOOO EXPENSIVE. I can get a nice hollister tee for 14.99, a ski company tee is easily 20 bucks. So stop saying they are so goddamn expensive.

I like the preppy look, somewhat. I like polos and shit. I dont care who makes em. I just loved striped shit, hahaha. I also wear jerseys, hoodies, t-shirts, whatever.

I wear what I am. Meaning I wear band clothes (no emo or mainstream. mostly metal) and skiing slothing. I used to rock the pouser look and wear skating clothes. I tryed to skate but I cant. but I am not preppy and dont like it

skierkidWV if you wear abercrombie, hollister, Ae or any of the rest of that shit you are in no way shape or form preppy

If you would like to call yourself "preppy" then go out to brooks brothers, buy some seersucker and madras shorts, some 5-7inch inseam fishing shorts and khakis, get a few needlepoint belts, costa del mar sunglasses, croakies, Brooks brothers and Lacoste Polo shirts, and sperry topsiders

until then youll just look a tool in your Abercrombie and hollister

hollister and AE are cheap shit, what the hell are you talking about its like 30 dollars for a fuckin polo shirt there

I bet you knew every single person in your school that wore Hollister, AE, Abercrombie, etc right? So what if they are wearing a style, why would you even think to base personality on clothes? I feel really bad if you go through life not making friends with people because of the clothes they wear, that's just downright sad.

I'm friends with a couple kids that dress like they just slept the night on a curb, they look mean and shit, but they are some of the nicest funniest guys I've ever met. Don't judge people by their clothes man, that's just wrong.

Preppy companies have been getting ALOT of heat recently. Everyone who says they like it, wear nicer clothes, and everyone who says it's gay, wear clothes from footlocker. It's impossible to agree. I swear half the people on here care more about NOT caring what they wear, then the people who actually wear the stuff because they like how it looks. But look at it this way, I try to dress in the same style as most hot girls do. But if your trying to attract some "shorty" who has a grill and is wearing AF1's, that's cool.

if im gonna buy a "preppy" shirt, im gonna buy polo because i just like there shirts the best. most of the time i like to rock vintage tees that few people have or a skateboard/snowboard brand tee. some jeans to go along and im good. oh yeah and some skate shoes

hollister, abercrombie, and american eagle are all owned by the same company. thats why all their stuff usually looks the same

I know where your comming from but with abercrombine and such it was all with the girls. Sadley all the guys at my school where sporting the pouser look and now I have a look that I want which is the rocker. And as for the black mohawk guy Ive thought cool, cause the guy actually looked good in it

I think i can justify myself as being preppy seeing as i go to prep school. And I also think you need to get of your fucking high chair because 90% of people will describe abercrombie as preppy. So you can go off on you i know all trip, but thats what most peoples deffinition is. jesus.

Uhhh. I dont know I dont shop for brands but i usually go for the tighter fit shirtsd and pants. I own alot of volcom. Right now for instance i have volcom slim jeans, volcom slim shirt, and volcom boxers that I got for 7 bucks cad. This is just a coincidence but brands like volcom that catch my eye are the ones getting my money.

I find it weird that people in highschool wear all this crazy shit like scenesters and all those kids with their hair and skintight pants, and then when you go to college noone is like that..... I have yet to see one person like that this week.

go read the preppy handbook and then get back with me, or go ask anyone at a real prep school like salisbury, hill, or kent about them wearing abercrombie etc and then watch them laugh in your face and call you a new money faggot

i wear hollister and ae all the time..and when im not im wearing a skiing shirt..i dont know why people hate it..ive been knows to rock the pink polo so if u dont like it then look the other way

Um, XL skateboard tee's (gonna get alot og 9th tee's etc when they get in) Etnies, Volcom, DC jeans, XXL Champion jog pants, Skate shoes, New Era caps, or condom beanies.
