Hey everyone,

Brighter Planet and 1Sky emailed us about this cool video contest they're doing where the top 10 entries will be shown to Congress and the next President of the United States. Check out the details below and head on over to the News page for more info in their press release.....

Climate Matters: Inspire Your Next President

Brighter Planet and 1Sky are inviting Americans everywhere to participate in a contest to inspire our

next president and political leadership on climate change. Between July 31std and September 22nd, Climate Matters contestants will upload a 30 or 60 second video representing their best attempt at delivering a compelling message to the next president and their political leaders to encourage bold action on climate change. A select panel of prominent judges will choose the winner amongst those ten videos which have accrued the most views in a single day.

The contest will take place during both the summer Congressional recess and during the height of the

presidential campaign season. To elevate the issue of climate change in the Congressional and the

presidential campaigns, 1Sky will organize a strategic D.C.-based event for media and policymakers in

early October to highlight the top 10 videos. We are also investigating multiple additional pathways for

Im going to get a video of some fast jet bombing forests and enter it, im prety sure ill win, no im joking, not sure they allow entries outside the US.

ahahahahahahahahahahahaha

this is so funny, i can see no impact of global warming right now, everyone says the world is heating up adn it's all because of us as a race...it's kinda funny seeing as australia experienced it's coldest winter, also heaps of researches, scientists and doctors have told global leaders that climates change every thousand or so years, it's happened in the apst it will happen again, but noone lsitens to them.

from my perspective there's not much point in all this :P

you obviously have no idea how the earth works and maintains its balance. i'm not even going to argue with you, esp. since that would detract from the thread. you're thinking of global warming. we're talking about global climate change.

i would enter this contest if I had the production skillz.

Somebody should really make a video using actual facts that climate change is a natural phenominom...even abrupt climate change. Don't need all these polititians trying to "stop global warming" it's such a goddamn waste of money. It would be truely awesome to see an unbiased video about climate...

The only problem is that abrupt climate change has actually been proven over and over to be natural...and even far more abrupt and extreme changes than we face right now. So if you wanted to be factual about this contest, you should enter something that actually displays this.

ok leckett1 since you are obviously so well informed on the subject we would all love to see your video

hahaha

but seriously, i couldn't give a f&*k if climate change was man made or not as long as we stop treating the earth as we do currently.

sorry guys, the contest ends on monday! that leaves this weekend to make and submit something. more than enought time, right? right.

do it!!

Wow!!! At first I thought the video that was the guideline and told you to enter was a submission. I was like "Damn!!!?! That ones gonna win!" I think this is a dope contest, can't wait to see the entries. I hope there are a bunch from newschoolers members, even though it's late notice.

i hated the first because of that guy talking, i couldnt take it seriosly he sounds so stupid like from some school video i watched in 5th grade.

Today is the last day to submit! Thanks to all who entered. I encourage everybody to check out the page www.vimeo.com/climatematters to view the entries!

the one with the frog gave me the chills that a really crazy thing to wrap your mind around i liked that one the most

Tex and I were going to make an edit for this... but didn't get around to it thanks to me being dumb and lazy... shit.

yeah? well although it's a great analogy, it isn't entirely true and on top of that, the world is not entirely heating. some places are seeing decreases in temperatures as well. I don't know how many times i have to say it but it's global climate change, not global warming.

the reason people call it global warming is because the global average temperature is increasing. you are right, however, that certain areas are warming, while others are cooling or experiencing other climate changes.
