Cliffjumping: how high is dangerous?

Got to be careful. And fuck compression fractures. I have one that I didn't let heal right. When I got my back xrayed for another injury a couple years ago the doctor was like "this is your back, this is something we see in old ladies, not supposed to see it in 20 year olds, take care of yourself" I dun goofed.

the most dangerous things in jumping off cliffs and bridges is what you are landing into. I know people who have hit the bottom hard, when previously had jumped without even hitting it. rivers are sketchier because it's hard to know where you are when you dive down to check, or if you check with a weight, because of the current. Also some cliffs you must hit a narrow spot or clear a certain distance or, have a sketchy climb up, or not much of a good takeoff zone. All those factors are the big killers.

For just pure height though, I would say anything over 15m is where I would start sticking with tricks I know I am going to land pretty well, because the likely consequence of fucking up goes from pain, to hurting myself.

The biggest cliff I ever jumped of was probably around 25m and although it was a pretty safe jump, the height made it dangerous IMO. Like if you backslap from 25m you are hitting the water around 80km/h. That could fuck you up.

you can get a lot more airtime off a nice jump or ropeswing than you can with a big cliff anyways and the hangtime feels better than just falling for 2 seconds. I mean this video has about the same amount of airtime as a 25m (80') cliff, if not a little more, but I hit the water with MUCH less force than I would have if I tried this off a cliff. And this one still knocked the wind out of me real good haha.

Yeah I've been considering jumping this all summer, and I just don't think the juice is worth the squeeze. Its about 120-140 feet from where I would be jumping. Especially with winter around the corner.

untrue I've ruptured my ear drum on a 1 meter. it all comes down to how you land at 110 you need to know how to properly take the impact or you can really fuck yourself up.

my 3rd time flipping a 60ft i over rotated by an un-noticeable amount and i had a splitting headache for only like 10 min but it sucked

id say 60 feet pretty much requires shoes and a good landing. i jumped a 70ish foot cliff but landed with my arms out a bit and they insta-bruised

at the end of july i sent a 40-50fter a couple times and last jump i did i jumped simultaneously with a friend and didn't pay too much attention to my posture and landed angled (butt out) as soon as my little bumbum touched the water i felt something went horribly wrong and i had badly bruised my coccyx, now almost 2 months later it still hurts when i have to sit in the same position for longer than 15-30 minutes .... (long drives in the car are hell! )

but seriously i'd say from around 30ft you can seriously injure yourself if you do stupid stuff (you don't want to bellyflop) and from 30 upwards you seriously need to make sure you know how to land properly, as you see i wrecked my ass on a 40-50fter just by holding it out a little bit .....

my friend fucked up a frontflip on a 35, she over rotated, broke a rib and bruised her hip pretty hellishly. not so bad in the grand scheme of things but she would have been fucked if the cliff was any bigger.

crater lake was my most notable cliff jump by far. huge superman front even though its only 25-30 feet. supposedly its pretty famous, there was some sketchy 40-50 footers too but didn't mess with em

pic of exact cliff for reference. not me

Highest I've done is 65 and I landed pretty straight. The impact still bent my leg back (the right way of course) and it hurt a little. I'd say once you go above 50 ft. it's more of a challenge, and not even fun.
