Cliffjumping: how high is dangerous?

so me and a few buddies are going on a mission the next week to basicly bang many women and cliffjump all over ny/ vt. we have a buncha spots picked out and some bigger ones (60-110 feet supposidly so i assume its like 50) and were filming for my buddies video contest so we all plan to throw some dubs. I can dub back and dub cork a 25 foot cliff solidly but never threw it on something bigger so its gonna be new to me doing it on something 2 or 3 times as big and i may over rotate some shit until i get the timing down perfectly. So basicly ns, how high of a drop onto the water can actually injure you worse than knocking your wind out or some bruises. Injuries like dislocations and broken bones or knocked out or worse. Whats everyones experience or knowlege of this? I know when i hit the water on a 50 its some solid impact....

You can severely hurt yourself on impact with the water on a 1m springboard. I know a kid who had to wear a back brace from landing wrong. Just be smart and get comfy with a couple simple jumps. start with like 4 straight jumps, then a couple gainers (easy way to spot the landing), a few fronts then a couple backs and move on to doubles.

my general rule is to not go above about 85 feet. you start hitting pretty hard at 70 feet and getting the tiniest bit sideways in a jump from higher then 70 is going to seriously hurt you.

I don't know about 1m. I fucked my self up trying to do a double front of a 15ft drop. I landed right on my back and got a gnarly bruise that swelled up and wind knocked out of me and called it a day. There is this 30ft block on a lake near my house and people have dislocated shoulders and stuff from landing wrong nothing more serious than that though.

Fucking up on anything over 50 feet sounds like it has the potential to be bad.

I landed slightly off axis on an 80 foot bridge wearing a full wetsuit, and it felt like I got hit by a cement mixer. I had a bruise on my side from my knees to shoulder two days later. If you're going to jump off anything over 60, wear a wetsuit and shoes and really try to land upright. And don't flip or spin or anything unless you're REALLY comfortable with it. You can get messed up.

Truth?

And yeah be careful. I got bruises on my feet from jumping 60 with no shoes and did 70 with shoes and it still hurt. It's almost not fun jumping from that high, its just a way to prove something to yourself.

I don't whether to respect you our call that flat out stupid..

That's an awesome snap shot if this story is real though.

So an ounce of chron costs what? 160-500 dollars? Depending on where you live of course.

Your medical bills were probably over 10K. Did you bother to think?

I think one of the illusions is that you have to be really high up for something to go wrong. Anything over 30 feet you can land wrong and get fucked up. A lot of cliff spots have land you have to clear, pools you have to hit, shit like that. You miss that and you can get fucked up from even less height.

Def be careful. Have a good time but don't be an idiot. Good luck, and post a sweet edit

God I can't believe that just came out of my mouth.

That picture is so gnarly. I'm looking forward to a sweet video. Also you should try to bang a girl while jumping off of a cliff. That would be the most epic claim ever

30 feet is about where bad things happen. My OB course director told me that some guy jumped a 35 foot cliff (We were at it, begging him to let us jump it) had torn his sphincter.

Highest I've done was 65 feet and that felt pretty damn high. Landing at the wrong angle will knock the wind right out of you

I think the more important factor is how heavy you are. I gainered a 50ft cliff five years ago and slightly over rotated onto by butt/back and was perfectly fine. Weighed around 140 at the time. Three weeks ago I jumped off the same cliff without flipping and even though I landed feet first, the impact was much more jarring at 165 lbs.

damn after 3:48 they turned it on. fucking nuts, i would probably do all those jumps but damn they are scary

there's no way you were fine after that.

my protips are wear a life jacket because being safe is cool and cover your balls because if you land with your legs open a bit they will take a serious beating.

wearing a life jacket is a horrible idea. probably one of the worst things you can do when jumping from heights into water

Clench your buttcheeks. I had a friend land off of a 45ft jump with his legs slightly apart, and the force drove water into his ass at mach speeds. Said it hurt like a bitch

see thats what I thought, but I jumped a 60 footer last week with a shitty fuckin rafting life jacket on and it really wasn't bad at all. Just held onto it tight and didn't notice it was there. Made the float back to the raft a lot nicer.

can you not swim? i think it's better to be safe then sorry in this situation and not jump with one. i've seen them catch on peoples chins and they end up with whiplash.

Thats why you hold the collar of the jacket. I use a JetPilot jacket when I go off 50+ cliffs most of the time. Theyre designed to take away some of the impact from hitting water for wakeboarders. Im sure Its saved me from getting fucked up more than a few times.

it's also one more thing making you bigger though. I wouldn't jump with one, but I also wouldn't jump without friends nearby in case something happened.

my buddy actually has a video of it i'll try and dig up. and yes, I got the ounce of dank but it prob. wasn't worth it
