Cliff jumping may have ruined my ski season

yesterday, I jumped an 65 foot cliff on lake champlain, and now my shoulder is all fucked up. I went to the Dr, and he said he thinks my rotator cuff is torn, and it will take "a long time" to heal. and now my ski season may be over.

i woudlnt worry about it too much... I tore my rotator cuff 2 years ago in the early ski season, and I was able to ski the rest of the season - just not really agressivly. It was a pain though. But seriously... how much do you use your arms to ski?

dude that sucks, but rotator cuff takes a long time to heal but i dont think that will keep you from skiing. its not like you rotate your arms all too much. well in freestyle you do, but at least you might be able to ski

^I've had a rotartor cuff injury, and they do take a very long time to heal, mine was only minor, and the pain lasted 6 months, and I do feel it still today. And yes you need your sholder to ski, you still fell it.

Have you ever jumped of the top of lone pine (Mallets Bay). Its 70feet and you have too get out like 10 feet over this tree or u land on a rock, its nuts but lots of people have done it. I went out with my friend on his boat in Mallets bay, and we found these other cliffs that go up to about a 100 feet it sick, but u need a boat. BTW we were looking for new spots since theres about 40 signs on lone pine (not to say we didnt jump anyway

Has anyone been to the twin lakes ropeswings at whistler? You only fall about 20ft but it brings you off balance and you can hit the tree! Its fun but painful!

How did you hurt your arm jumping off a cliff?

 
Its totaly true, You dont actually realize how much you use your shoulders and poles skiing untill you fuck with your shoulder. Any it did take mine a good 2 years to heal to where it is today, but thats is because i kept re-injuring it in rugby. If you do good phisio, you should be right as rain befor the ski season even starts.

I hope you don't have to have surgery for it. It will be a few years until its normal again. After surgery, your lookin at a lot of physical theropy with medicine ball, and different color resistant elastic tape. The good news is, your young, and it should heal faster than normal.

Do some small tests, if you can raise your hand over your head. If you can, than your in pretty good shape for it to not be a long healing processs.

Rotator cuffs blow, I tore mine in my left shoulder in the begining of last season. I still skiid like normal but the pain was unbearable when i fell.

two words, PHYSICAL THERAPY

get a good physical therapist and work hard at it, you should be back by ski season, but that's a lingering injury.
