Cleaning up spins

Getting kind of pissed off. Been doing various spins for years now, and suddenly I'm having a hell of a time dialing in my spins starting out this season. Fucking getting frustrating. I'm either corked in all kinds of crazy directions or I'm over-spinning simple 3's.

I'm setting the spin with a smooth motion without dipping my shoulders and I'm staying forward on the balls of my feet. Any1 else experiencing this or throw up an idea or two? Maybe it's because the lips of the jumps are a little steeper than I"m used to? Think I might just work on getting clean 180's dialed in and then go from there.

Sry for not posting in Trick Tips. I want to go rip at my hill tomorrow and I don't want to wait a week for 6 responses.

Having the same problem.Im spinning off axis and corking..which leads to injuries.Im gonna just say lean forward..I personally am just doing 180s and then start to slowly over rotate them, it keeps me on axis and able to spot where Im messing up.

I have this same problem right now dude. I have been working on getting my 3's perfect for the past week and it is so frustrating... I keep looking at this advice I compiled from others but it's not working. I'll let you know if I make any ground. Here is the stuff I compiled:
1)try not to take offone foot2)left arm straight outin front3)Right arm straight outthe side4)now when you pull yourams in make sure not to drop them Set the spin with yourcore. When approaching the lipflex your abs and send it with your core, not your arms. when you spin you got tokeep things straight.head upeyes uparms level to the groundto set when you spin off thejump and one of the above drops it will un balance the trick to take off both feetyou need to use your whole body. shoulders knees and toes should line up fromtop to bottom. poping is like a forward and upward thrust from the hips thatwill drive you away from the kicker and to the landing. try some straight airtuck jump first to get thing working together. and when you spin dontlook at your feet. spot at 180 (Visualizethe entire trick before you drop) hands forward for thelanding

thats way too much stuff to remember at once. i can only focus on one thing when im about to hit something. it might help if you got someone to film you. that way you could watch the footy and see specifically what youre doing wrong and try to correct it next time

i find that watching ALOT of edits sorta helps if you pause and re-wind tricks that you want to learn while visualizing doing them at the same time.

I do some of this too, Colby West, Jacob Wester and PK Hunder Claim parts, haha.

I liked that idea of having somebody film you on basic tricks to see what you're doing wrong. Might look retarded getting filmed on 3s and 5s though haha.

try and learn to spot your spins... on a 3, spot the lip of the jump at 180, focus on it, then look for ur landing.. 540's spot the lip, stay small, and spot the lip again for landing... spotting is golden for learning big spins, good luck man

yeah what ive started to do this year is shifty my spins, giving me waaay more time to spot the landing and control the spin

plusss they look sick haha

why would that help in a spin like the person I quoted said?

and yes, a certain something great today and now i have low serotonin and dopamine levels for a bit. iFail tonight. at terms. it happens. worth it! i only have one test that decides most of my grade in a class in the next two days, i'll be fiiine.

Try widening your stance and carving off the lip to get a nice steezy 3 ... During execution just tell yourself your gonna stomp the shit outta this and ride out like a thug ...

Don't overfocus on doing it right. What helped me when my spins got messed up was just to drop in as soon as i got of the lift, decide what trick to go for on the way down and just do it. no time for overthinking it.

I had this problem a while back and what i found is that i was winding up too much. I would set the spin and spin more with my upper body than lower and this made half of me spin faster, therefore setting me off axis. try to relax and just take your time on the smaller spins, i found that really helps me.

i was corking my 3's last year all the time one time. one time i corked it so much i landed flat on my back. this year i went out to try for the first time and land it perfectly i found the reason i was going off axis is because i was dropping my shoulder i was looking over and this year i was not

i was having the same problem at the begining of the season, all i did to correct it was carve more when you take off and use your arms a little less

this is what i would do just go to some of the littler jumps in the train park(if they have any)and just keep practicing them untill there good,

go with a fried and let him film u so u can see what your doing wrong!

hope this helps

i'm spinning threes with no problem, but when i spin threes with a grab attempt I almost always feel unbalanced in the air. Thiis is my problem.

So, went out skiing today to fix my problem. I started out straight airing EVERYTHING for 2 laps. This was a total change for me cause I usually try to spin off everything in sight.

The next couple laps through I concentrated only on keeping my head and eyes up without looking down at my skis as I set a smooth slow rotation. This worked BEAUTIFULLY!

I think what mainly did it for me was getting back to the basics of straight-airing every single jump with a wide/balanced stance. THx so much for all your thoughts and input.

Concentrate on those hips, I had a rough day recently with simple things I had dialed before. I had to take a breather and just think about the baby stuff again. Back in the game and having fun.
