Cleaning my hard drive?? help me out please.

Hey guys, so I tried using the search bar but I didn't really know what to search, so I decided to ask you. I was wondering if any of you know how to wipe my hard drive clean on my MacBook and if you could pass on your knowledge to a person such as myself. Its almost full and full of useless shit that I downloaded when I first got it, and I want to start fresh, I already backed up all the shit that I want to keep so yeah. Thanks alot!

step 1: open computer

step 2: locate hard drive

step 3: wipe clean

.or you could put in your install disc and reboot into it (hold down command while its turning on) and then use disc utility like so:
