Cleaning bottoms of skis?

Hello and welcome to potentially the dumbest question ever asked in the world of skiing. Under my skis that I’ve owned for only about 2 months has been developing a semi-transparent coat of white residue. I have not waxed these skis (armada arv 96 2022 if it would be of any importance) and I’m wondering if this is only happening because of it. Is this a red flag and should I be doing anything about it? Or is it a naturally occurring thing and I’m being dramatic. Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers!

It could be the bases drying out/oxydizing. How many times have you skied them? To fix all you need is to wax them, if the bases are 'burnt' and won't accept wax they may need to be taken to a shop where they will grind off a thin layer to expose fresh material.

Ask your hills rental shop if you can use some base cleaner, and you should definitely get them waxed

Skied them around 15-20 times

99% dried our base. you said you never waxed them. Factory wax is notoriously bad and leaves fast. Your base is dried and you need a base grind to reveal the fresh plastic underneath. If you can’t do that, just keep waxing

Wax them yourself, its fun to do. The first time should probably be done professionally though if they look that bad

Id still clean them to get any grime off beforehand using a little isopropyl and paper towels when you eventually do try it on your own

The whole setup only costs $40-50

You can use a scotch-brite scrubby pad to remove some of the dead ptex for cheap. Think "polish", it will remove tiny hairs on the surface.

A base grind is better....

Then wax it like everyone says.
