I realized right after I posted that I read that on a different thread yesterday. That's what we call skimming headlines and not having any idea what I'm talking about. Like a lot of the internet. And I just perpetuated it. I should pay for my actions.

It'd be cool if the Inuit people became the next scary people we're supposed to be terrified of. Idk, would be funny to see a bunch of news stuff of people on snowmobiles and how they're going to kill us all and trap us in their igloos.

Maybe even skip that and be scared that evil polar bears are going to kill us all. Then instead of fighting global warming we'll start polluting everywhere to try and kill them off.

Idk, I just wish the next "threat" would be be amusing.

wernher von braun said the next threat is asteroids.

The fact that you are not threatened leads me to believe that you may actually be a terrorist

confirmed: Republicans very scared of very rare events that will never affect them.

Seriously though, who the fuck cares about the government funding space exploration. Space exploration is going to become solely driven by private enterprise, and thats the way it should be. Let the government save its money for the important shit.

This. For space exploration to advance and technology to develop private companies need to take over. That's happening now, and it's a good thing. Space research, however, is a different story. Universities and NASA will and should dominate that area.

Bullshit. Stop subsidizing shit we don't need, end the bush tax cuts, take over the cayman islands, and other offshore tax havens that are within our protectorate we'll have a frickton of money and could go to neptune and shit.

You guys remember when Reagan wanted to initiate the whole Star Wars missile defense thing? What happened to that kinda awesome shit the republicans wanted...

Although, instead of Missile defense, I say we install MAC gun platforms like in Halo to defend from alien invasions or asteroids, or just to have awesome giant fucking space guns on giant space stations that we can visit because why the fuck not?

Screw the bank bailout and whatever peashooters the NRA bitches about... I want some real guns... Like Space battleships and crap.

...Wasn't Newt Gingrich all about going to space and shit? He said something like "he who controls space controls the future of mankind" or whatever.

But nope. Republicans are going to probably vote for someone who doesn't believe in space, and probably goes to sleep at 9pm so they don't even have time to check out the stars anyway.

13420979:DingoSean said:
Not sure I could ever willingly purchase Budweiser for myself, ever.

Yeah same here. If I'm going to buy a shitty beer I'll just get keystone or pbr because it's cheaper. Hell keystone I could get 8 keystones for 4.25 after tax and deposit where I lived. That's an american deal.

Republicans may be "retarded", "ignorant", etc. about science, but Liberals are apparently as ignorant about the XX XY chromosomes these days

With all of the trans stuff going on recently

...What's wrong with that?

Either way, it's yet another thing that doesn't concern anyone (along with gay marriage) that many conservatives get up in arms about because they're not comfortable with sexuality or modification or anything.

Something tells me that you're just scared you're going to be making out with a chick, reach under her skirt one day, and realize she's got a plug, instead of a socket. IE: This.

Hmmm ignorant about global warming and cutting spending to science or caring about the basic human rights of the entire LGBTQ community. Wonder which one is more ignorant?

just for future reference it is climate change. Global warming is no longer the appropriate term.

"Where justice is denied, where poverty is enforced, where ignorance prevails, and where any one class is made to feel that society is an organized conspiracy to oppress, rob and degrade them, neither persons nor property will be safe."

Feel like this fits most of the conversation nsg has been having recently.

Lets see, what have we seen so far in this thread?

Homo/transphobia - check

Climate change denial - check

Misinterpretation of science - check

Yep, sounds like a political thread on newschoolers!

If any of you cared about the future of skiing, you should support liberals. They believe in climate change and are trying to halt it, not "disproving" climate change by holding a snowball in congress. If climate change goes totally unchecked, skiing will not survive for much longer.

you should fact check what you're saying. The climate is always changing. The biggest example is as little as 10k years ago half of North America was under a mile of ice.

We are fucking up our environment with co2 and pollution and trash etc

But, to predict the climate is going to change because of humans fast enough to halt skiing in our life time is farfetched.

I encourage you to check out this website:https://ih-igcse-geography.wikispaces.com/7.9.+Causes+of+Climate+change

As the graph shows, from 1900 to 2000 levels of co2, methane, and nitrous oxide dramatically increased. A sudden increase like that is not natural. And you're right, the climate is always changing. However, humans are accelerating it greatly in a negative direction. Man made climate change isn't up for debate anymore. It's a fact. Trying to say man made climate change isn't real or a big threat is foolish.

But, to predict the climate is going to change because of humans fast enough to halt skiing in our life time is farfetched.[/QUOTE]

That's not what I was saying. Skiing will not disappear within our lifetimes. However, snowfall will drop and glaciers will melt. We will have less snow and shittier and shorter seasons, not to mention less places to ski as resorts who cant do snowmaking close.http://unofficialnetworks.com/2015/01/more-ski-resorts-close-due-to-lack-of-snow Not to mention we've been breaking heat records right and left for years. (Some of the extreme cold spells like in Boston are also caused by climate change)

You republicans ignore any wrong doing ever by you or your ancestors,on any subject, ever.

Get real, read any science journal anywhere that isn't funded by Carl Rove, and form some new opinions.

because stating that offered no value to the conversation, and obviously you're trying to say global warming is nothing because the environment is constantly changing. bit please if there was some other point you were trying to make educate me.

There is a ton wrong with this statement no one is saying you're not going to ski with in your lifetime we're saying we're going to do with unreversible damage to the earth for the future people it if we dont cut back on pollution. It blows my mind that you're against stopping pollution because the earth has always been changing. The earth is always going to be changing that's how biology and ecosystems work.

and you're putting words into my mouth. I said I understand how bad our pollution problems are. I am an outdoorsman, the last thing I am for is pollution. I am just pointing out that our climate has never stopped changing. The last mini-ice age ended 2 centuries ago. Me saying that does mean that I am for pollution and ruining the planet. You're adding your own personal feelings to it.

me showing you that a mini-ice age ended in the 1800s does not mean I think our current world is not fucking shit up.

You are argue in every thread you take part in. Stop taking online convos so personally. I bet our views align way more than you think.

this three hour podcast should sum up what I am saying quite nicely

Exactly. Stop funding dubious environmental studies.

Of course, if we really wanted to take a divot out of the federal deficit, we would cut social security, medicare, and medicaid. It blows my mind that we spend the most money on the people who contribute the least to society.

both agree pollution is bad so why are you bringing up climate change or global warming and it not being a big deal it contradicts what your saying. I'm not listening to a 3 hour podcast I'm going to listen to 99% of scientific studies, not sponsored by coal and oil companies.

Wow, man. Congratulations. I have to say though that it was really dumb of you not to accept the deal before telling me that. So dumb, actually, that it makes me question the veracity of your ACT score. Why would somebody turn down a bet they couldn't possibly lose?
