The whole 2 party system in general is completely fucked. The Republican leaders in congress are retarded. The Democrats aren't much better, but at least they're not trying to cut 300 million dollars from the environmental studies program at NASA. Keeping scientists from being able to try and figure out how to unfuck the Earth isn't going to fix climate change and if we keep raping the Earth at the rate we are now, everyone is going to die.

To the corrupt, out of touch, ignorant old men we deemed fit to elect into office: please pull your heads out of your asses and realize that we don't have a back-up planet.

/end rant.

NASA's mission is space exploration, end of story.

However, Obama's version of NASA researches "climate change" and needs to "reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science, math, and engineering". All while pulling funding for the Constellation Program and reallocating more to the dependency programs that bankroll his constituents.

Perhaps that $300 million could be allocated to, you know, actually exploring space? Or how about just having the ability to send astronauts into space again? Something that we could do 54 years ago but cannot today.

Both parties are fucking horrific these days. Nobody offers any real solutions to problems or seems to have any principles.

That said because many Americans are stupid fucks they have their little party they choose for life and then blindly vote for that regardless of what's going on. Shit like that keeps any positive change from happening. You could pick up 2 homeless people and put them on the ballot, with nothing to offer other than being a rep and a dem, and they'll still get at least 70% of the vote between them.

The to party system keeps anything legit from ever happening. Sure we have other parties in America but they get 0 media coverage, aren't invited to the debates, etc. The debates should include all the top parties instead of being a giant circle jerk of career politicians.

There are a good amount of people who will go out and vote in elections, knowing little to nothing about the candidates, and just rolling with rep or dem. I think it would be sweet if it didn't tell you which party they belonged to when you went to vote. People would be pissed because they wouldn't know who to vote for.

I just go for the sick "I voted sticker" and the freedom gangbang.

/I can't sleep and just felt like I should rant about nothing

Ok, but space exploration isn't what the human race needs right now. Not utterly and permanently ravaging our planet so badly that we can never recover is what the human race needs right now. And if that means space exploration takes a temporary hit, that's ok because what are we going to do with all that knowledge of space of we're all dead?

see you can think with flexibility. Conservatives lack this ability, they can only see black or white.

NASA was actually created for the purpose of espionage during the Cold War, and it's purpose has since shifted. NASA's main purpose is research of air and space science.

I don't understand anything about politics, but it sounds like you guys are wasting your time.

I'm going to go for a hike. Sounds a lot more fun than bitching.

need that Joker gif that says "and here we go"

but yes, climate has always changed. it's the rate of change that's worrisome.

There was a time in America before there was laws protecting the environment. when companies could just dump waste in to bodies of water, they could vent harmful chemicals right in the air with out being flitered. It was cheaper for the companies to run like this, and most republicans in office are old enough to recall those days. They want them back because it is a higher profit for the companies they could give a shit about taking care of the environment because they are rich enough to move to places where that doesn't reach them.

Soooo before we get to deep, what do they plan on spending the 300 million dollars on?

The article doesn't say, but I assume they're trying to get a handle on the 439 billion dollar budget deficit the federal government ran in the first half of the fiscal year 2015.

OP, I agree with you that studying science and climate change is important, but I think we can all agree that our government's spending habits are fucked and not sustainable at the current pace. Where do you think the cuts should come from? Nobody likes cutting spending but unfortunately it's going to have to happen at some point.

cut the obama care bull shit. That was just a money grab by the insurance companies. It did not give us national healthcare. It forced people to pay for insurance. Such fucking bullshit

Science, of all kinds, should be one of the last things cut from any budget. The environmental division of NASA does all kinds of ecological research and has actually grown very large. A lot of research institutions receive funding from NASA and they're a big player for grant money, similar to NSF. If this passes we'll be taking a giant step backwards as far as ecological research goes in this country which, like I said, covers far more than climate change.

Who cares that NASAs original mission was for space exploration. It now has developed a large environmental division and we'll be throwing a lot of fantastic ecologists and environmental scientists under the bus and out of the job if we defund 300 million.

This is very true. The early 1900s are pretty accurate to this. We need a media revival with people like Upton Sinclair who work to exposed or just show the realities of our government and the failure of the party system. I mean c'mon America, the two things George Washington said in his farewell address was that we should NOT have a party system and should not have entangling foreign alliances. That sure turned out well...but we are Begining to return to what Hoover and Coolidge work towards, "the business of America is bussiness". Companies and special interest groups have more influence in government than you'd think. Look at presidential "fundraising".

Our government is fucked up.

100% spot on, and this why they claim global warming is a lie they want the laws to ease up so they can go buck wild just like China.

Explain "places" where does one go if the whole world is fucked? Are they rich enough to live on the moon?

I'm sure no one wants to fuck up the world, republican or democrat. If Gerbils can grasp the concept that you don't shit where you eat and sleep. I'm pretty sure that our politicians understand that concept as well.

If you think there are not politicians and business owners in this world who would rather dump their waste in the rivers verses an environmentally friendly route then you're delusional.

Seriously though, who the fuck cares about the government funding space exploration. Space exploration is going to become solely driven by private enterprise, and thats the way it should be. Let the government save its money for the important shit.

These people think short term. They care about their wealth only. For places example, say a guy owns a factory and it creates smug does the owner live next to it ? No he lives far away from it where the air is clean. Not thinking about that someday the air will be nasty because today it is clean.

This is why I prefer fence sitting. Just sitting back, and seeing how the two parties argue make me not want to vote at all. What would the solution be to having just two parties? People can never agree on anything.

Alright but here's the thing. Gerbils aren't motivated by millions of dollars. Not to mention the fact that most of the people who are fucking everything up for a quick buck (politicians, corporations and such) won't be alive long enough to see everything actually go to hell, so what do they care. When it gets to the point where scientists are paid to denounce climate change and more environmental restrictions something's wrong. (Multiple court cases from 1990-2006 of falsifying information to denounce climate change when was acknowledged as real). You really think the government cares about you? Hahaha politicians understand the damn concept. They also understand that it would be ruin for them If they did something to fight it. I mean look at Al Gore, he was stupid for a lot of other reasons but was denounced as a Buffon for bringing climate change to the table...but most of what he said was fairly accurate.

You have a very ignorant view of our political systems and politicians if you think that they don't want to fuck things up. They will in a heartbeat if the money's right.

The two party system is dumb as fuck. Having your campaign backed by corporations should be illegal but politicians are so corrupt. The last time a republican was elected without a Bush or Nixon on the ticket was 1928. So fucked up. Now people will either vote for Hilary or Jed just because they know their name. The political system needs to a serious revamp. Make private backing illegal, get rid of the two party system and introduce a term limit on family names.

I really can't say I completely conform to one parties ideas because I feel there is good and bad on each side. That being said I do tend to agree with Liberals more than the GOP.

The thing that bugs me about Republicans more specifically their followers is this idea that faith trumps science. I dislike that a good majority of Reps are against climate change when the science is so overwhelmingly clear. Or many forms of biomedical research simply because god wouldn't approve. If I could write a letter to every republican this is what it would say.

Dear Republican,

Science does not give a fuck how you feel about it.

Sincerely,

Reality

Motherfucker, you need to listen to some fucking Neil Degrasse Tyson and learn a thing or two.

1st of all, whats up with you fucks hating muslims so much. Do you know how many innocent civilians we've killed in the middle east after 9/11? Or how many have died from indirectly from our actions? They aren't all out to get you, their religion doesn't revolve around your suburban life.

Next. They did make massive mathematical and scientific discoveries, and did a great job recording it. All of our technology and current theories would have taken much longer to achieve if it wasn't for Islamic mathematicians. What's wrong with them getting credit?

And why would Obama give a shit if they got credit. Do you really think the president is scheming to use NASA to be on better terms with the middle east? He doesn't even get along with the Iranians, or the Pakistanis, or Afghans. And if he was, why would that be a bad thing? Do you not want a better relationship with our current enemies?

The nukes you fucking conservicunts want to carpet bomb Iraqistan with wouldn't be possible if it wasnt for the ancestors of the innocents you'd be killing.

Go fuck yourselves.

I like how Western culture likes to scoff at Islam for having been such a progressive scientific society that purged itself... all while that's exactly what many people in our society want to do with ours.

They want to kill stem cell research, deny climate change and defund any programs to research it further, and they want to stop going to space because "we've been there" or something.

...all in the name of religion and money.

As many societies have come and gone before, we're next if we don't do the right thing.

The patriot act is ending shortly. Be on the look out for a new terrorism threat. You heard here first, folks.

It's being replaced by the Cyber Security Information Sharing Act and takes the bulk data collecting area of the patriot act and sets it in stone. It would allow companies to openly share your emails, phone calls, text messages, social security information to homeland security and them immediately shares it with government agencies. And over rides any other electronically protection you have under the law.

You are all wrong. That 300 million dollar cut is being made so the government can use it to create a organization of secret ninja spies that attack and kill terrorists. They will protect this great country that we call 'MERICA and while doing it without ever being known. They will know where and who you are before you actually know. They are there when you have your first child and there when your cat gets run over but you never know because its the government.

There's a huge difference between sending people to space, and having the ability to send them.

What he means is that the United States cannot send astronauts up without the help of another country. That country happens to be Russia. NASA can recruit them, train them, prepare all the equipment...then fly them to Russia and pay a fortune to send them up. They need the ability to put them on a rocket in Florida, and send them up.

It'd be cool if the Inuit people became the next scary people we're supposed to be terrified of. Idk, would be funny to see a bunch of news stuff of people on snowmobiles and how they're going to kill us all and trap us in their igloos.

Maybe even skip that and be scared that evil polar bears are going to kill us all. Then instead of fighting global warming we'll start polluting everywhere to try and kill them off.

Idk, I just wish the next "threat" would be be amusing.
