Civil Cervice Exam

which state?

I've taken one and I'm taking it again in a few months. pretty easy stuff. but it depends on the state and which test

Speaking of employment exams, has anyone taken the FSOT?

Thinking of doing that when I finish grad school.

What are you taking it for? I have taken 5 civil service exams for entry level police jobs. I consider myself a good student. I keep getting 90's on the exams. To be honest, for a white male, you should really be shooting for a 95/100 to be considered for employment. They are not hard to pass, but to do really well takes some effort. Lots of memory and correct wording of sentences. .

What state did you take it in?

You really do need to hit 95+ at least to even be considered.

Definitely not difficult tests but you really need to take your time and read through each question carefully.

Oh alright. I figured it was NY as most states don't offer the exam that often. MA is once every two years.

Ever taken the nypd exam?

nope, but i'm guessing (like the NYS Police) they give their own version of an exam. not 100% sure though, but NYC does everything different than the rest of NY so it would make sense

Yea and I believe they give it frequently. I know a few guys who gave up on ma and went nypd. Makes sense since they put through classes that number in the thousands

ya thats true, but keep in mind how any people apply. police jobs today as competitive as hell. for every once position they can process a hundred people with how many people take the test

I know people with very high scores on their tests and have family in a few police branches that are still having a hard time getting a job. One guy was told he wasnt being considered becuase they asked him how many times in his life he had smoked weed and couldnt give them an exact answer.

it's competitive enough these days that hesitating when they ask about your drug use history is enough to disqualify you.

True. Also i remember saying that being white with a score of x was worse them being a minority with that same score. Idk how much truth there is in that but its something i have heard before
