Cigar

my sister gave me a cuban as a present from a trip she went on ad i want to save it to smoke it with a friend of mine whos pretty much a cigar afficionado. the problem is hes been in alaska since june and wont be back til the end of september. so im pretty sure by the time hes back (probably at least another month) the cigar will have gone bad and he would be pissed if i had ruined a good cuban and then had proceeded to have him smoke a bad cigar. so, im wondering if there is anyway i could save it and keep it in tip top shape; i know cigar smokers have humidors that do this, but i dont smoke cigars like that and i dont have one so is there any way i could just seal it in something, say a tupperware container, and would this even work? im guessing it might not work because it wouldn't be humidified but im open to any suggestions. thanks

on mythbuster teh made a humido just take a foam block soak it in h20 then put it in a tupperware thing put the cap on and poke hole in the tupperware, then put the tupperware in a cooler and the cigar along with it and seal the cooler

they did it with baseballs but its a humidor so it should work

get some water pillows from a smoke shop. put one with the cigar in a ziplock bag. it will be fine. i am a bit of an afficianado (spelling?)

i found out that the fridge or freezer does everything a cigar is not supposed to be put through. ended up getting a special bag called a humi-bag that is basically a humidor in a bag that lasts for 90 days.

crack open, empty out tobacco fillings, break up nuggets, place nugs in wrap, lick to seal, light up and enjoy :)

get a ziploc freezer bag, cut a sponge in half, saturate sponge with water, squeeze out a bit of the excess so it doesnt drip, place in bag with cigar (make sure they are on different sides of the bag since you dont want the sponge to ever touch the cigar, make sure the bag has a bit of air in it when you seal it. voila, humidor. DONT put it in the freezer, keep it somewhere that stays a constant 70 degrees, or room temp. that means anywhere that isnt an oven or freezer. once the sponge dries up after a few days, just recharge with a bit of water. this is how a humidor works, and i used to do it all the time before i just ended up buying one.

honestly man keeping cigars in the fridge isnt bad for the cigar. It keeps them well. I know alot of people who do it.

and google your question, youd probably get some good answers.

No its not good for the cigar because it gets cold and once you take it out it will dry fast as fuck. Cigar shops have some bags that help them stay of in the fridge but its probly not as good. I bought a little humidor for 15 bucks and it works great, thats a good option

i know this thread's over a year old, but i just had to address this.

the kid who posted this clearly has no idea how a real cigar is constructed. DO NOT cut a real cigar with the intent of rolling it into a blunt. real cigars are obviously not constructed like Phillies or Swishers and will not work as a blunt wrap.
besides, only chumps actually cut their Swishers... crack that shit.
