Chronic or Anthems?

Hey guys. I've been skiing on Line Mavericks since they came out (2003 I think), and just got into park this year. So I am a beginner and can do some 360's, horrible at rails, but maybe that's because I have a 74 cm middle? Well, I recently went up to Lutsen Mountain (8 hour drive from my house) and when I was pulling the skis out of the truck, I noticed that the back end was splitting in half. I basically can't ski switch or else they will split even more. So I need a new set for next year. I would like to stick with Lines, but any other suggestions would be helpful. But ya, is Chronic's or Anthems better for a begginer that wants to do more in the park? I was also wondering, do the kind of bindings really matter when in the park? Thanks!

go with anthems, if you want to get more into park they will rip it, but also be able to ski else were on the mountain and be dopr there too. so yeah my vote-anthems

my vote would be with the anthems. i have just ordered some for myself.

i am mounting mine with look p10s but for you depending on how much of an aggressive skier you are i would reccommend p12s or p18s.

i prefer chronics. stiffer skis seem to hold up better, and they ride better all mountain. also they're way better for jumping, no more washouts.

the anthems are suppose to be a sick ski, but at 93 underfoot maybe a little large for Minnesota skiing.

I would not take binding advice from this web site, there is no reason why anyone on should be needing a binding with a din of 18 (look p18), the looks are a great binding, but i would recommend letting your local shop help you with binding selection.

if your from the cities area, id go either hoigaards or pinewskis to look at bindings, both shops know what they are doing, and i know bindings are currently 40-50% off at hoigaards.

Definitely anthems for more of an all around ski. And just for future reference, the "middle" is the "waist". The tip is the front of the ski, the tail is the back.

ya i was lookin at anthems for next season...but i live in NB where we get powder once a year i was wondering if 93 is too wide a ski for me

I have the anthems and they rock, such a great ski. But i dont know why no one has mentioned it, but they are the completly wrong ski for you. If your just begging in park and would like a more all mountain ski, that still can handle in the park go with chronics. Anthems are really flexy and true twin which doesnt make sense for 90% of skiers. Chronics will be perfect for you.

i disagree with this ^, but thats just my opinion. you should read my review of anthems in my signature, see if thats what you are looking for in a ski...

That's a great review. Thanks! I think I will go for the Anthems. I want to learn how to butter and stuff. And my current skis are so god damn stiff. I want to get out of the stifffff.

Oh and also, will it be tougher to land since the Anthems are more flexible? I always (always as in 60% of the time, so I don't slam my feet) land tail first, will I have a problem doing this?

i have anthems and love them, i mentioned that. But he doesnt need true centered skis! Chronics are much better if your not in the park most of the time. And he doesnt need skis as flexy as anthems

well im in the park almost everyday im on my chronics, and they're way better than anthems unless you're light. with only 3mm difference between tip and tail they're great switch, and the larger tail height makes it fun switch through crud and some pow. 85mm waist is also not much smaller, and they have tons of pop. and for reference, i have skied anthems, i traded with my friend for a day, and he was more happy about the trade than i was.

i just ordered anthems, arrived yesterday, can't wait for the season to start to get out on them. im a lighter guy so the flex shouldn't be too much of a problem for me. the only thing im not quite sure about is the tip and tail height like ryan said. the extra height of the tips on pes is great for blasting through crud, the tips on scratches are more like anthems and they didn't handle the chop quite so well (i realise that anthems and scratches are softer than pes)

anyway, one question.. the midsole mounting point on the anthems, its the center point of the ski right? not like on pes where midsole is waay back
