Chronic Edge:A chronic problem?

Well so i have 177 chrons, the gold ones, and today wouldve been sick, except when i went to put my skis into my car, i noticed a slight belmish on the ski. After further inspection, it turned out to be a coreshot, down the sidewall, and almost to the edge, about 3cm x 2cm, just flaked away. i skiied mostly a groomed run today, not quite a park becuase we dont have rails, but close, so i def. didnt hit any rocks. i think the same thing is happening on the other one too.

what the fuck is going on? Defective skis? it didnt look like a defect...

If it's happening on both skis it's most likely a defect otherwise some asshole probably took a fork to em while you were in the lodge.

^i had considered that. i looked at them more carefully, and it sorta looks like it could be happening to the other, but i couldnt tell. the topsheet all; the way to the core just flaked off on the other one, didnt do anything til i ran my hand over it, then just fell off, so i cant really tell... i thouhgt chronics had like bombproof sidewalls?

I have the Gold chronics and I have had no problems with them at all except for something similar to what you are saying. It is on the back of my skis right where the transition from top to side wall is. It is from your edges hiting your skis. Just put some water proof epoxy on it so your core does not get wet and forget about it.

It is just from rocking with your cock out that's all...not a defect.

i have the white chronics n a simular thing happend on the top edge, i thought i was from someone elses edges but i dont no, it couldb a problem.. i do agree though ju epoxy n keep going

 
i got it all epoxied up now and colored gold with a paint marker, but what i did was blow the side and a park of the topseet out in a chip. it went from the edge about a cm in, all the way down the sidewall, almost to the edge, right ot the core. and it wasnt from rocks or anything, the only thing i could think of is i bailed really hardcore on a switch rodeo 5, and maybe hit my skis together or someshit...dunno. id get pics but it doesnt look like anythin now

new to skiing eh? it wasn't clear at first but it sounds like something that has happen to every ski out there. it happenes to me durring some mad wreaks when your skis cross and somehow comedown hard in one park and ether rip or chip the topsheet/sidewall. still post pics i want to see how bad it really is.

no not new to skiing, but it was about 4cm long and all the way down the transition from topsheet to sidewall. ive only ridden my chrons like 10 times, didnt expect it to happen that fast, and since it looked like it was happening on the other ski in the same place....

all damage is in relation of how hard your ride/treat your skis. dammaged should be expected even the frist day due to any acident can cause dammage and you have no clue when it will happen. i really don't think its the skis falt here sounds like noramal wear and tear to me.

Yea man i got gold chrons also about the same thing happened to me but only on the one ski. I'm almost positive is from crossing sumhow but im not totally sure. \

i have chronics and i havent had a problem with them all season. i have seen someone elses white chronics(like mine minus the damage) that have the same thing wrong with what is going on with your skis. told me it was from cross' and mutes. it makes sense becasue its only on teh one ski. unless u smacked your skis together hardcore or your a total hardass on them. or maybe you cross both ways?

i dont know if it is just the chronics be cause i have mike nicks n my edge has poped out n my other freind who has lines has had a probleum with the edges so im thinkin it might be lines companys fault

 
^ Exactly. It's because Line skis are made of cardboard and are assembled by migrant workers for tax write-off purposes. (sarcasm)

From the few people at my hill with Chronics, they love them and the skis seem to hold up fine. Sounds like you just got some bad luck, and I sincerely doubt its from crossing your skis because almost every other twintip would be having the same problems, but they aren't.
