So I fell in the stupidest way: just got caught up on a fr3 swap on a sticky flat box and got sent down straight to my lower back. I now have this pain that has not subsided after over 3 months. I have had an MRI and x-ray that show no sign of a fracture or anything. the pain is right in my spine and definitely not muscular, more nerve related. it really fucking sucks and is constant. anyone else dealing with constant lower back pain from park skiing? I'm 24 and was not expecting this at all :(

I’ve had similar stuff w my back and knees main thing with fixing ur back is regular stretching and some workouts. It can be a bitch getting rid off but stretch ur hamstrings a lot they affect the tension in the lower back and then do some basic stretching also and mabey use on of those foam rolls for your back. Basic push ups and back stuff should help u strenghten it but it may take some time. Main thing w it is doing all of this regurlaly and it should help after a while. Dont know will this help you but it is worth a shot. Healp up soon!

Inb4 someone says CBD

...but for real. Depending on where you live and access to it, CBD can do actual, medically legitimate, wonders for chronic back pain. You can do anything from rub topical ointment to ingesting pills and there are 0 psychoactive effects.

Try to get an appointment with a good physical therapist and bring copies of the images of your mri and xray if you can. Physical therapists can do amazing work if they know exactly what the problem looks like. It will probably take multiple appointments, which can be expensive depending on your insurance, but still very worth it. Do all the exercises that they tell you to do, exactly how they tell you to do them, every single day, and more likely than not you'll improve dramatically

I’m no doctor but I’ve had problems with my sciatic nerve from falling in the past. The best advice I can give you is to stretch thoroughly for relief. I don’t ski or skate without stretching out my whole body first.

Yea... I popped something in my neck on a hard cliff landing when I was 21 and have never been the same. Now, 10+ years later, I just have to obsessively stretch and workout my neck/back muscles and that makes it 90% less noticeable. Mid-twenties is when you get your old-man club membership card and have to start working out to keep the same level of skiing performance

CBD won’t do anything for the actual problem though... all it does is mask the pain. THC would do the same thing. If he wants to just get by, CBD is great. Terrible idea for a long term solution though.

CBD is an anti inflammatory so it would actually “do something” but I’m most definitely not suggesting sitting around and swallowing CBD pills waiting for a result. In combination with a good physical therapy routine, it can be helpful. That’s all I meant.

Correct. My mistake; I thought you were saying that’s all he needs. It’ll help but not to the extent I think he’s asking. Stretching, strengthening, conditioning and flexibility all have a role in keeping you going. Learning that the hard way now that I’m getting older haha

Tell me about it, I’m doing PT now for the knees mainly and some lower back from hockey. I wish I knew how jacked they would be when I was younger. Would have definitely taken care of them better.

You ever looked into regenerative stuff like PRP’s or amniotic tissue? My gf makes the amniotic stuff and I’m going to try it soon even though it sounds gross haha

Dude... 23 years of being a goalie at a high level shreddddddded my knees. That and I’m sure soccer and all the running didn’t help either.

I haven't; Let me know how it goes! I’ve heard good things about it but it sounds gross af so I’m not really stoked on it haha

CBD is total bullshit for me. Have tried an extended serious regimen of high quality CBD protocol and noticed literally zero effects. Same for topical creams. Nothing. Nada. Zilch.

Dr NS here,

I’m glad you already checked out your skeletal structure, because that’s the only thing that the doctors will help you with. The next step is physical therapy. It might be worth paying someone to set you up with a route to strengthen our back. In most cases it’s overuse. You should try strengthening your core to share the load. Bad posture is a big deal for this too.

Trust me I’m not a doctor

Back pain my whole life. Just do a lot of consistent stretching, find workouts that work your hips, back, shoulders, etc but don't push it too bad. Anti inflamatories help, especially if it's a nerve causing a muscle spasm (constant contraction of the muscles). Sleep on your back, sometimes with a pillow under your hips. Work on your posture standing and sitting. It's hard work to do all of this but man, it's so worth it for the few weeks the pain is all gone. Until you take another gnarly fall or lift something too heavy at work...

An MRI would probably show this, but it sounds like a slipped / herniated disc?

How is your back now anyway, 8 months later?

It was trash until I started skiing (jumps) again in December. I had actually given up on PT but kept stretching and stopped any other sport that didn't involve just running around. I was close to 100% for a while but this confinement in NYC and lack of skiing is sending my back down a bad spiral again. Luckily pain is mostly in the morning so I blame my bed for some of it. Wear and tear through the day just doesnt feel that bad anymore. Took a solid 8 months before feeling any difference, patience is a virtue.

I hurt my self in a similar way by falling on my back while bouldering and the doctor said that the skin on the bone (don’t know what it’s called in english) was damaged

I felt my lower back pop on a cliff landing earlier this year. I was miserable for a week and then decided to try the chiropractor. Fat guy say on me and boom! I felt 90% better right away. Just gotta stretch out all of the tight muscles now.

Sorry to hear it's coming back, I feel ya pain dude. But at least you know it can be fixed, somehow...

I feel god awful every morning as my mattress is pretty soft which leads to my back arching.

im not a doctor or kinesiologist, however ive had back problems for a long time (overshot a jump). I found the best way is to start by going to see a physiotherapist and then once you are done seeing them for a while, continue to stretch and work out your core and back muscles. i do at least one day of back and core workouts and stretches a week and then do at least one exercise and stretch every other time I work out as a top up to any other workout days.

Good luck man. it will take time but you will get better

Chiropractors aren't real doctors, the entire field is pseudo-science. See a real doctor.

Is it sharp stabbing pain, where's it located close to the spine? In the spine? in your Sacral region, does it shoot down your legs? Does it go Numb? Does it Burn? What relieves it? Help us out with something more than my back hurts please. You need to list symptoms if you're going to trace it to the root of the problem.

My body’s fucked. At the end of the day though pain is pain. And I’m only getting older, you just gotta get used to it (unless it’s something like a sprained ankle etc)

Have you seen a doctor? The first thing you should have done was to see a doctor. He should examine your back and prescribe medication.

See a doctor of physical therapy first and save $$

Lmao that’s not what pill identifier is for homie

In this case, it is better to contact knowledgeable people. The first thing you should do is seen a doctor to examine your back and prescribe medications. If you are afraid that the doctor will prescribe the wrong pills, you can check them through the drug identifier. You will need to enter the number of the tablets, and you will get full information about them. I don't think it can be anything serious. I suspect that you just have a sprain or a severe bruise. You should do yoga or simple stretching, then the pain will pass.

Begone Bot! No one here wants an opiod addiction.

If you’re asking about pill identifier, it’s used by parents who find pills in their kids room, med professionals who need to ID something ASAP (first responder to an OD) but never a tool to question your prescribing physicians medication choice for your treatment...

I have already visited several clinics, but the doctors prescribed me the treatment that does not help me. I read on the Internet that for back pain, I can contact a chiropractor. I even found a clinic that is not far from me diamondchiroomaha.com. I would be interested to know who has been helped by a chiropractor to get rid of back and neck pain? I would be grateful if you would share your opinion. Unfortunately, I am already desperate and ready to do anything to get rid of the pain that does not allow me to lead my usual way of life.

In addition to visiting a doctor and chiropractor, I would recommend Chinese theraputic massage and acupuncture. A great place to start is a school of Chinese Traditional Medicine.

Are you in Omaha? This one looks super legit and they accept insurance. I've personally witnessed a paralyzed person walk again after electroacupuncture, and they offer that too:
http://www.ebomclinic.com/home.html

I've heard a handful of back pain recovery stories from people doing the Alexander Technique.

It's like a mindful posture correction thing. I mean, you said you were willing to try anything?

Honestly, it's similar to Tai Chi and Qi Gong, so you can try those too.

I think those people at the EBOM Clinic could really help you.
