Christmas or no Christmas?

ok so this was brought up a few months ago to me but i just got reminded of it.

If suddenly everyone was dead, would there still be Christmas?

I think that there would be because it was there while we were alive and therefore that wouldnt just go away.

I have gotten the argument that if there was nobody around to celebrate it then there would be no Christmas.

I am wondering what you guys think about this and also if someone could maybe change my opinion on this subject.

what man? its a legit question, we argued over this topic for a good 45 minutes in one of my classes including my teacher.

Well it depends if by everyone you mean Santa is inculed cause we all know if there's no Santa then there's no Christmas

"Mr. snowking249, what you've just said... is one of the most insanely

idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling,

incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be

considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for

having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on

your soul."

no it doesnt.

but to OP

1. this is so stupid and useless.

2. what about animals, dont they still get to celebrate christmas?

3. If a tree falls in a forest and noone is around to hear it does it make a sound?

4. If december 25th comes and nobody is around to celebrate it does it occur?

i know its stupid and useless but its something you can argue about and waste time when ur bored. but the tree falling is just another example of this type of question.

I think it's becuase it makes a vibration, but since there's no one around to have the vibration hit their ears, it doesn't technically make a sound, because sound is just what we perceive the vibrations as?

haha nah man. it was during our resource period which is basically like a free period we have once a week where clubs meet and you can do homework if you have it or just watch tv and talk.

yeah thats the answer most people give, but the real question should be 'if a tree [is] in a forest and nobody is around to perceive it does it exist?' basically does existence require perception,,,

this is off topic tho.

anyways look up berkely if you care..

not really if there wasnt anybody to celebrate christmas weather your motives were jesus or santa it wouldnt exist

Christmas will cease to exist, kinda like every other holiday ever. Unless of course humans disppeared while a holiday was happening.. Then all the decorations will be up and preserved for a very long time until the elements destroyed it.

seriously- what the hell just happened- i m confused on so many levels right- also stunned at the sheer stupidity of the argument- if it even is one-
sounds like what i would expect to hear from a bunch of people on shrooms debating
