Christians are no better then muslims

ok i just want one person to qoute this question and answer it

whats worse

being beheaded

burning in hell forever

that is all

i didn't really read this thread, but some christian beliefs are retarded. like how christians believe that gay people are going to hell, and some states don't allow gays to marry. i don't understand how that works, it's a belief is it not? i'm christian but sometimes a lot of the religion pisses me off. i mean i believe in god and all, but people need to live their lives and quit being bitches.

I love how you can take two incredibly complex religions and simplify them to such a level, that completely degrades everything they are about. Regardless, by my RELIGIOUS beliefs, it would be much worse to spend an eternity in Hell. But to someone who doesn't believe in Hell, I'm sure being beheaded would be worse, considering if they don't believe in Hell, then how can they spend an eternity in Hell?

okay, i will answer it. technically burning in hell is worse, but that has nothing to do with THIS life. we don't even know if hell is real, i believe it is, but i'm not positive. things that go on in the "afterlife" have nothing to do with what's going on now. so with the above statements, being be-headed is worse if you look at the facts. quit trying to prove everyone wrong, your entire post was idiotic, shut up.

now i may or may not be wrong, but doesn't every religion condemn those who don't accept it? obviously some are more final than others (christianity vs. buddism) but the fact of the matter is, no matter what relgion you are part of, there are negative consequences to those who don't follow.

damn your right, i think i will apologize to islam and christianity for being too mean. lmfao. you are actually right though, its not nearly as simple as i made it seem and i know that. i could probably write 20 pages discussing both islam and christianity but i wanted to take the main thing americans use when they argue against islam. islamofascisim and beheading. i just realized how hypocritical they were and felt like making a thread about it.

i don't think you can pick and choose what beliefs are retarded and which aren't. the topic of gay marriage is touchy for sure, but they believe that because it specifically says it's wrong in the bible. that doesn't mean gay people deserve to be bashed or treated with any less respect. that pisses me off.

Please don't. I couldnt stand 20 or 30 pages of beligerant attitude and forced opinion. You argue your point as if you walk on water. Its not your point I resent its the way you put it across, theres absolutely no reason to belittle others and act tough. Your making a fool out of yourself and the way in which you argue discredits you completely.

yeah man, thats what im saying. because it says that in the bible, gays can't get married. what happened to freedom of religion? thats why i dont understand how they can do it. fuck that shit.

i dont give a fuck. either my arguemnt makes sense or it doesnt, if me being a prick makes it invalid then fuck off, go stimulate your simple fucking mind somewhere else

when everyone dies and they don't go anywhere but in the ground, and no after life exists or any state of concious/subconciousness exists either.....my dead lifeless carcass will be laughing at so many people for being so stupid and wasting so much time believing in fairy tales and fighting wars and killing each other over something made up.

i'm all for freedom of religion, but i don't think that means altering them so suit your needs. i mean if someone doesn't agree with a particular belief they don't need to follow it, but i also don't think that that they should be able to change alter the source. i hope that makes sense.

In a strict sense there are consequences for not following religion. But only the irrational follow religion to the core and take its every scripture into belief. Those people are fundamentalists and should never be taken seriosuly.

Personally I'm not religious but I prefer to think of religion as a guide. Perhaps in the days when scripture was written strict belief was neccesary in order to maintain order among the people. But in today's day in age belief that strong is simply irrational.

Which isnt to say the Bible/ Qu'ran/ Torah etc are totally irrelevant I just think they should be taken at face value. These scriptures all preach positive core values which should be taken in mind, but I maintain that strict belief is essentially more harmful than good.

i can see what you're getting at there and i respect it. however, the bible says every word is god breathed. that's why some christians follow it to the letter. the bible says condemning things about homosexuality and other controversial topics, but compared to what is says about loving your neighbor and respecting others it isn't a whole lot.

True enough.

I like to think in the context of when it was written. The Bible was written a few hundred years after Jesus and the Qu'ran a few hundred years after that.

At that time there was no mainstream method of mass communication, however something as captivating as the bible and subsequently the Qu'ran (Which preached many of the same values) would surely have spread as is evidenced by the rapid expansion of both Christiandom and Islam.

My point is, without laws as strict as those portrayed in the Bible, it would have been very hard for the religious ideals to catch on in the early days without the word of god being so strict. Its sort of an indoctrination. Kind of the same way we believe so strongly in democracy and liberalism and find it so hard to imagine any other way of living. (Which is the foundation of a million foriegn policy issues right there)

On a brief aside its also interesting to think about how when these two religions met each other conflict spread rather than debate and argument. Its testament to our capacities as humans not to let go of something we beleive in so strongly and to take offense to opposite views.

But anyway in today's age its good to look at the basic positive messages of the bible and not to take the strict messages so seriously. theyre just outdated. But whos gonna change the bible? People are always going to follow it strictly.

Uncle Tom, you started this thread just to talk shit and cause controversy. Saying Christians are no better than Muslims is like saying Girls are no better than boys. It is a statement that nobody can agree on because while they may have similar views/traits in areas, neither will ever see eye to eye because they are different. And you being the atheist that doesn't pick sides making you a cop out bitch. You believe in nothing, so there for you are nothing and you lack existence past being a physical thing. This scares you because existence is a feeling the humans need in nature. To compensate for this you pick fights among others to feel like you have some influence on the world and giving you a feeling of existence. Example : This post. Nothing good could come from this post because you are just bringing up the controversy and hate between two parties. You really are a prick by bringing up a topic like this and if you are truly are an atheist and believe in nothing, i hope you figure out that you are going to be alone forever, because atheists don't believe in others, because atheists don't believe in anything.
