Choosing a brace after ACL

Hey guys!

I torn my ACL last spring, had a surgery in the end of March. Cant wait to get back on snow this season tho, but since it's better to keep it easy for the first time, so I decided to get a brace.

Ive read a lot of threads on this topic, but couldnt figure out which of these 2 is better for average park skiing, giving the fact that I cant afford DonJoy Defiance brace.

Breg Fusion XT vs. Ossur CTi OTS Standard

I havent seen/tried on/feeled the CTi, but read a lot of positive feedbacks.

I went to see a Breg yesterday, its preety lightweight and looks pretty comfy. The thing I really did like about the Breg that it has an flexible medial hinge bar so it allows your thigh to move a bit, what I assume matters in skiing.

Props for any help you guys can provide!

Trying on a good brace is pretty useless. A good one should be custom made for you. Talk to your surgeon and see if they will prescribe one for you.

I have CTI OTS. While it really does offer great support, when you are landing bigger tricks/drops,no brace will help much. I actually regret not getting custom one, and probably will invest in one this season(quality is awesome, been wearing this one for 3 ski and wakeskate seasons, still holding up), because after a whole day of skiing the ots version kinda makes some pressure points that tend to get unconfortable. However, I am not positive that custom version is worth it.

I wear two CTI custom vapors. Get a custom fit. I don't even noticed they are on for the most part. I really only feel them when on the chair or when I am touring. And even then its not irritable, I can just feel them. They have also served me well for a lot of park skiing.

Thanks a lot for the replies guys!

A few months back on my question regarding the brace my surgeon told me that I did a surgery to avoid wearing it. It a smart dictum no doubt but its hard to break this mental threshold to risk again with a fresh ligament.

Today is my final appt. w surgeon. Ill def ask him again since I really hope to get the season started this weekend.

Question about the CTI Custom. What was the procedure of getting one, bc I found a good (I guess) cheap deal for custom (not sure if the Coupon Code is gonna work, but still):

Is it possible to get a Custom Version just with measuring the basic 3 dimensions (thigh, calf, knee center)?

I wonder why is Breg not so popular? It looks legit fo real.

Customs are really pricey...:'(

Sry about the stupid question on the measurements, just read about the whole "cast sending thing".

my surgeon told me similar about not wearing a brace. hes top notch for where I live so I trust his judgement and went sans brace. skied all last season without a single knee issue.

good luck whatever you decide
