I just assumed if it went wrong I could edit it. Ah well, here's the Youtube version.

Trailer for BUSC's 2007/2008 DVD "Choice" - a film of the year's comps, riding and partying.

BUSC is the British University Snowsports Council - running snowsports events for students in the UK.

I really fucked that first post up.

BUSC is a unique organisation in Europe running events, holidays and

top quality competitions that are usually catered only for university

students. We run the largest dryslope competition in the world and the

largest attended British run event, the BUSC Main Event in the Alps.

Choice is set to become the greatest ever film to grace

Student Snowsports, The film documents the full 07/08 season including

Summer Session 07, the Fistful of Dollars urban railjam, BUDS, BUISC North,

South, Scotland and Finals and of course the BUSC Main Event in Austria. It

will also include interviews, picture galleries and other bonus material.

Thanks for your comments.

All the filming was done by volunteers, and was done in the little time we had during events. We didn't have a whole season to film or a lot of expensive kit to play with; and rather than focusing on just a core of the most talented riders; we try to show a balanced view of the events, from the best of our freestylers, the racers and the guys who just come for a good time.

It's never going to be a film on par with names such as MSP, Rage, Level1 or whatever; it's a non-profit organisation pretty much run with whoever is stupid enough to devote their time to it.

I hope that when the full film come out it will not disappoint, it is mainly aimed at the people involved in BUSC, and they are the ones that will enjoy it most. I think it will also appeal to some others who want to see what else is out there apart from the very organised, well-funded, practised, planned and choreogrphed films from the major production companies.

You can see some other footage from our events (if you want), at the following links:

movie looks fun, i might check it out- is it free or ££? i must admit i never really got the whole busc thing. i mean if you've never been skiing or boarding before and wanna get into it then sure, but otherwise it doesn't really fit into what my idea of a week's riding is about. each to his own i guess thought eh....

Unfortunately to cover the music licensing costs etc, we can't give it away for free, although it was considered as a way to promote BUSC a bit more. ACG helped out a lot by providing Chris Asquith to edit for us; but apart from that we had no financial input.

I think that BUSC Main Event works for anyone, regardless of their experience or ability. For the uninitiated, they can get lessons provided, for the people who want to compete there's something there for them whether it's the first time competing or if they have done lots of comps before; the standard is varied. Then there's the people who have ridden before but don't want to compete; they've got a great price on a trip where they can go shred the mountain with their mates in the day and have the option of some huge parties at night; which is pretty much what anyone would want from a week in the snow.

Obviously others may disagree, that's cool. I hope you do decide to check out the film and see a bit more about what BUSC is about.

yeah, fair enough. i guess its coz i'm more into freeriding and not so much park that i'd rather just ride with my mates who i fully trust in the mountains that we know inside out. maybe if i was more of a park guy then i'd check it out coz it definately sounds like a good time. the other thing is that there isn't much of a freeski scene at leeds (where i'm at)- it's mainly snowboarders who don't really recognise our newschool stuff.

how much is the movie likely to be? should be good if chris is making it, think i'll check it out for sure.

Yeah I can't remember Leeds ever really having anyone on the ski freestyle side of things; pretty good race team and some boarders who ride; Leeds Met had a couple of guys including Tom Last but no-one I can remember from Leeds uni. A few of the guys are into the backcountry riding though, I know the pres form last year, Matt, was; he bought some Helix off me and wanted touring bindings for them.

BUSC has tried to do a couple of freeride style events in the past couple of years but the weather has never been helpful; 2007 had a freeride comp which had to have the location changed due to bad snow; and our King of the Hill event in Austria had to be limited due to a fall of powder on top of cruddy shit that would have made it a deathrace.

I heard Leeds have special needs.....

But seriously, you will kick yourself if you dont get involved with student snowsports next year, it is the most amazing experience you'll have while at uni. It is catered for everyone, of any ability and discipline. Every unis snowsports club is easily the biggest and most sociable of any sport cos skiers and boarders know how to have fun innit!

Honestly, get involved!
