Being Irish, I guess I should resent the Notre Dame nickname 'The Fighting Irish.' After all, how long do you think nicknames like 'The Bargaining Jews' or 'The Murdering Italians' would last? Girls that are avid skiers are far and few in between, as common with most any sport - its sad, but true. There are a few chick rippers that I've had a pleasure of riding with - To answer your question, generally I ski with guys, but I happen to come from a family of 4 girls and all of my sisters (and mom for that matter) are super impressive skiers - so yah, besides them, I seldom ride with girls. -MEG

theres a bunch of girls at my school that ski but just skiing. No tricks.

I ski mostly with guys...and sometimes with my sister...but overall there just aren't enough girl jibbers out there...I like skiing with guys tho, cause they push you, and I know I need that.
But I'm hopefully gonna make it out to Progressions camp in the spring...there'll be plenty of rippin' sistahs out there!

yes... charlei is my crazy buddy on the hill. we cause chaos in the lift lines, but the lifties love us. and im excited i met a new ski girl last weekend when i was drunk! but you gotta give a girl with pocket rockets some respect! before chuck though it was all guys

i've got one girl that i ski w/ a bunch and she's the only one that can actually SKI and not just pretend like they know everything about it and then end up falling all the way down runs. but i mostly ski w/ guys besides her

I'm a guy and i've asked the same question to many people. However, i was just talking to some really hella hot girls and they mentioned that they'd been skiing for their life. I'm taking them up on the slopes this year and seeing if they're as big as their mouth is.

i ski with a posse of four guys and they all rip. i haven't met any other girl skiers who are decent or jib. i don't think i'd want to ski with a bunch of girls though. too much whining and worrying about who's with who and what's everyone wearing at school tomorrow. when i'm on the hill i get to forget about all that bullshit and just ski. guys are a lot more fun. but yah sometimes being the only girl is a drag especially when they're checking out other girls on the hill. *gag. boys will be boys. drop me a line though if you are a girl in co and want to ride sometime. it'd be different and fun.

I mean that seriously, she hucks 30 foot cliffs and throws backflips and those boot grind things on boards. She's just plain sick, people at Dave Murray ski camp might've seen her this summer, her name's Silvie.
There is a girl racer here who's extremely hot, but she quit the team and I think she's gonna switch to boarding

I travel around a bit so I don't have a regualr group of people to ski with. But Ive never SEEN another girl on twin tips.

Ok, I think we've established that there aren't enough female jibbers/pipe monkeys etc.... I can't tell you how many times I've been waiting to hit a jump or waiting to drop into the pipe, when I've seen other girls (on twins) ski up, take a look and ski away. Case in point...JibFest yesterday. I entered and the reaction I got was that they didn't have a category for me becaus they didn't expect any girl skiers to show up. So I got stuck with the other girl snowboarders.
Ski with people better than you, it'll only make you better. Shouldn't matter if it's a girl or a guy.

GENERALLY, these threads make me gag, but I think I might chime in here. Seriously though, fine, there are not that many girls. Point stated. done. Get over it. Why have there been like a thousand thingies on this? There will be sometime. Mostly, I agree with jibber girl (?). Why does it matter who you're with? girl, guy, skier, snowboarder, or even by yourself (sometimes my favorite)... really. At the risk of sounding corny as all hell, just ride. And a note to lizzie... 'too much whining and worrying about who's with who and what's everyone wearing at school tomorrow.' jesus christ. Not all girls are like that, depending on their age, very few are. Why would you maintain a stigma like that on your own gender? It doesn't make YOU sound different, it makes us all sound the same.
I sorta agree about the competitive thing, girls do push other girls. But learn to push yourself, compete against yourself, or whoever's around.
Don't get me wrong, I'm really not trying to sound pretentious (sp?) or anything. This year I'll spend a lot of time riding with a girl that rides for Nitro probably. Competition doesn't have to come from just skiing, that and I totally love her. We just have fun. Personally though, I have the most fun skiing with people I'm comfortable with. We're like a family. It doesn't matter when you screw up and they're there to give you props when you throw down.

why would it make us all sound the same? i'm sure you've encountered girls who are just a bit too girly. the fact is, these girls make the stereotype for us all. just watch a commercial or sitcom with a teenage girl in it, you'll see what i mean. my town is filthy with them and i can't wait to get the fuck out of here next year.
back to the thread though, you do have to ski for yourself and set your own goals. being around people who want to see you achieve those goals helps.

hey jess, im sorry i woulda come to that but i was supposed to be getting teeth pulled and a funeral this weekend. didnt feel my family would appreciated me comming up battered and bruised.
and i ski mainly with jodi in the park. aeden too when i ski at louis, but mainly Jodes, she can keep me motivated and focused on what i plan on doing. i ski with alot of guys but they're intimidating half the time. so with jodi i dont feel the pressure but i still ahve the modivation to progress and become better, and from what i hear, ill be hitting up the park with you this year jess, so im super stoked on that. as well. i gotta come check out the park that your going to be setting up over at the shoe.

whatever though, when i ski, its usually with a couple guys, maybe another girl or two... none of my girlfriends ski-- maybe one or two have tried it, but i think im one of the few people i know that can actually ski. it doesnt really matter though, one way or another, its skiing.
