Chiropractic????

I have, I think it helped a bit, but didn't have a major impact. I had nerve damage in my spine and it improved my posture which made symptoms less serve but did not fix my problems.

i had a bad back, displaced hip and other stuff and i would always get back pain, i went to the Chiropractors like 3 times a week and within a month or so i was feeling awseome no more back pain, better flexability and i just felt better, i highly recomend it, it will help you so much both right now and other times too and such

I went to one for 2 months to straighten out a couple bones in my neck and it helped immensely. The only thing you have to watch out for is cutting off appointments. They'll keep telling you to come back regardless of how well you're doing, so you need to tell them when you're feeling better.

i had a bad back and went like once a week for two months and it worked great.
but don't go to the ones where they crack your back, find one where they use electric acupuncture. it works great and there are no needles :)

okay thanks alot man...ya like im going to one now and im going 3 times a week and they want me to go more and stuff they like drag me in..lol...but ya so far its helped i was just wondering beaucse ive only gone 3 times..beaucse i have ankles knee and spine probelms and we are fixing them so its awsome..thanks for your comments..

anyhting i should look out for,,,also im doing the one where the crack certain points and so on...but what does the elctric do...do you get the same thing witht he cracking over elctric

when i went they just told me to lie on a flat ground like the floor for like 15mins a day to help relax your back and get it back into its original plane and position, i did it while watching tv and my back pains went away

i swear by it man if you get a good one they just put you in line and it just makes you feel way better you have more energy and are less likely to get hurt

Kelso....

Rather than go to a Chiropractor, you should go to an Osteopath. The ideals of alignment and hands on manipulation are similar, but Osteopaths attend Med School, whereas Chiropractors are not real doctors. Rather than attend medical school and receive the proper training to treat patients, Chiropractors bailed on Med School and merely focus on hands on manipulation and "bone cracking." Although certain Chiropractors may be good, many have zero medical knowledge, charge far more than necessary for appointments, and will leave you in worse condition than you came in.

So, go to an Osteopath, they're genuine doctors that have clearance to perform surgery, do general practice, and other general physical exams. Given that we're skiers, our bodies are of the utmost importance. Treat your body well, save money, and go to an Osteopath.

ughhhhhh no don't listen to shit this guy just said my dad is a ex chiro and well he quit because he broke off a piece of bone in his neck skiing with me anyways

chiros know what the fuck they're doing i told my dad i hurt my knee and he said where does it hurt.... it was MCL and he knew that off the top of his head he knows every bone in the body with ease every muscle everything.

he went to school for 4 years but chiropractic school not med school he knows whats up hes not retarted

and to people saying they're just jipping you its not true my dad always gives me adjustments and everytime to me he says we'll check up on it like tomorrow or w/e its not a scam its just to check progress

end rant

ok w/e he still diagnosed it and told me how to heal it without touching it......

im in grade nine so i wouldn't know that yet.

i just had my first chiro visit to try and fix a drunken injury from last october (i put my head through a ceiling and unexpectedly hit a support beam....ouch). the guy seemed like he knew what he was doing/talking about, i quizzed him pretty good.

he claims i'll only need to see him another 2-3 times before my back is legit.

I've also been seeing an athletic therapist who beats the crap out of my back and neck muscles..... massage+chiro=win

haha my chiropractors practically my best friend.. if you have a good one it can help a ton. 2 total knee surgeries, a broken ankle, arm, and tibia and im still able to ski hard.. its just very helpful with preventing injuries and improving flexibility.. also everything is interconnected so if you get one thing adjusted it can often take pressure off other parts of your body, so yes its def worth it

def I go after any bad fall, Mine has something called laser therapy, (idk but I swear buy it) electro therapy and good old massage which I swear all together will cut the recovery rate of a sprain in half.

Plus hes a hardcore snowcross racer/ team owner, and hes cool shit. When the circut is in our town I chill in the pits and BBQ and shit. His wife is a skier, ( a ankle touching, christy turning, corduroy riding one at that) but shes fun to talk with just because shes rich enough to go to Vail for a weekend.

I injured my back this season(not like broken spine seriousness) but i went to the chiropractor and he helped for sure.

Yo kelly, my parents are chiropractors and i've been going to them all my life, trust me it works wonders, especially for your type of injury

I used to get headaches because something to do with my back. After 2 months of sessions or so all my random headaches are gone!

Sure... Don't see a chiro because they can't perform surgery. Dumbest thing I've ever heard. That is like saying don't bring your car in to an alignment specialist because they don't detail the interior and rebuild your transmission while you wait.

I go to a chiro because I throw my body around and need my ribs, vertebrae, neck and hips put back in place. My Chiro (who is a licensed MD btw) also knows the body as a fully functioning mechanism (to a point where I will argue is better than any other doctor I have visited) and I go see him to keep it that way. This is what they go to school for and that is what they do. I know when I'm past the point of realignment and I go see the respective MD of choice for advice.

A few bad Chiros have made a bad name for the many good ones. Go see a good one and then we'll talk.

Whacked the alignment of my spine many years back when I was in high school. Went to a chiro when I woke up one morning and couldn't bend over to put on my shoes.

3 visits later, and I was essentially good as new. Ultrasound, and massage and some well placed cracks worked wonders.

I have had good and bad experiences with Chiropractic work.

I personally recommend Acupuncture as I have had great success with it. I have used it for a number of things and I am continually amazed at how well it has worked. Neck pains, back pains, headaches, etc.

stress fractured my back playing baseball two years ago, when to doctors/physcal therapy really didnt do much, the chiro fixed it, also my acne was getting worse and she did some work and it pretty much all went away ( the nirve/spinal vertabre which controle skin complection was compact or something and after working on it a few times it really improved)

Meh, I've gone to a few chiropractors for various back issues over the years, and some were slightly better than others, but none came close to alleviating back pain as well as the stretching and exercises recommended by my physical therapists.

I had some serious issues with my lower back after prematurely ejecting and pulling some muscles lower back... it was all messed up. Massage therapy for a few weeks cured everything.....

My mate is a osteopath and it is a lot less intrusive to your body than going to see a chiropractor, would definitely recommend over a chiro. Not so sure about the whole surgery thing even though my mate did medical training it seems a bit far fetched for him to be capable to go do surgery on someone but I dont know.

every nerve and verteba in your spin has a different function for a specific part of the body, mine was pintched or whatever and super tender and tight she loosened it up for a few visits, (it hurt it was so tight) after it was better align the pain went away it wasnt tender and my "typical teenage acne" pretty much went away, my brother also is like crazy allergic to nuts, we use to think that was a joke when people said they were illergic to penut buttter and stuff becaseu it seemed like at a time every one was ( i guess god punished us or whatever) he becasme supper alergic,on a scale of 6000 we was about 5998 or something around there he can die from a cashue in 60 seconds if he doesnt have an epipen, after he went to the chiropracter for a while he got re tested his score was down to around 3000, and wasnt allergic to penuts any more, then after a while of not going he was sensitive to penits again

shits crazy dude i dont know how they do it but it works i was allways the biggest skeptic then i trying it one day and now im hooked

We are comparing apples and oranges here. More qualified in the terms of a broad MD title or a focused practice? And less expensive? No.

I'm more compelled to visit an Osteopath when injured, a Chiropractor when I need to be realigned. Could I visit an Osteopath to realign my vertebrae? Technically yes. But their focus is not the same and I probably won't will not be up to par as quickly with stretching, yoga etc techniques as I will from a Chiropractors "back cracking", a focus that almost that nearly an entire career of schooling and experience revolves around. An osteopath is off studying a wealth of other knowledge and will have less experience making an adjustment. But like I said earlier, it depends on what kind of ache and pain you are dealing with to determine who you are going to see.

I deal with Chiropractors, Physical Therapists, MDs often and I know each of these can help you with an injury in their own way. It just depends what is wrong with you when you make a decision of who you want to see.

OK, so I'm an old fart now, but I have always had back problems. I was born with scoliosis. It wasn't severe but bad enough that my back was more likely to go out and spasm. When I was skiing, competing and jumping a lot, I spent an entire season popping vicodin like Altoids. Not good! If I didn't take it, I couldn't get out of bed.

A few years ago I found this website:

http://www.trueback.com

I was too cheap to buy one so I just made my own.

This works great. When my back goes out, seeing a chiro is a waste of time until I can get my muscles out of spasm. This relaxes the muscles that run along my spine and then gravity does the rest. All the vertebrae move to the center of the channel in the middle. I try to lay on it for like 20 minutes a night while I'm watching TV. It's actually correcting the scoliosis (curve) in my spine.

I don't have any problem with Chiropractors, but it is a fact that, if you get manipulated too much, your back will go out easier. I prefer acupuncture when my back is in severe spasm because it gets the muscles to release.

Both chiropractic and acupuncture are expensive, and it sucks when you're in pain to have to wait for your appointment and gimp your way to the office. The trueback basically does the same thing for about the same cost as one visit to the chiropractor or acupuncturist. Still, if anyone is too cheap to buy it, PM me and I will give you dimensions to build your own.

yeah i was just at one today, and he fixed my neck
i never go very much, but if my back or neck is sore then i hit him up and he helps me out!

buy an inversion table for $150 and use it for only a few min each day!!! they are the shit, i had herniated discs in my neck and crushed vertabrea in my spine and the table takes the pain right away, plus it is fun to hang up side down and swing around
