According to the Associated Press and Xinhua, He Kexin, the tiny Chinese Gymnastics gold medalist is actually 13 according to a recent Xinhua article, and 14 according to the Chinese government english archives. Shortly after winning the gold, the article that included her age from Xinhua was removed from its archives, and publishers and officials refuse to speak about it. More Chinese coverups if you ask me.

Like Craig Ferguson said last night, having a 10 year old should be no excuse for losing.

NFL coaches dont say, go out there and play like 10 year olds.
 
So if she really is 13 or 14 isn't that worse? Doesn't that mean that we and other countries are losing to athletes that are younger?? I guess I understand that it would be cheating but using someone younger than 16 and winning is pretty bad. They must never stop practicing then..
 
Little girls have some huge advantages in gymnastics. They are lighter, lower center of gravity, more flexible, symmetrical because they haven't gone through puberty yet, and on competitions like the balance bar, all those things prove to be what the winner has.
 
Exactly. Which is why we should know their ages and the truth.

What will happen if they prove they are too young though? I really just don't think it would be right to take away those girl's who are underage medals. They didn't do anything wrong but live in a crappy deceitful country. They are amazing athletes who have trained for years. They are too young to understand exactly what they did. All they wanted to do was compete and make their country and families proud.
 
you know if we had someone underage every other country would be pissed, olympic committe would scold us,we would lose the medals they won, does anyone know if china will lose the team gymnastics medal??
 
They never will because there's absolutely no proof that the girls aren't 16. Its all reporters and articles that we are speculating on. China has their passports and will never admit anything other than the girls are the right age to play. This is stupid to even be arguing about it.
 
first of all, who watches Craig Ferguoson? Second, it seems like there is an advantage to being that young when it comes to gymnastics. Third, even if there is no advantage it is still against the rules.
 
how much smaller is she than shawn johnson though? I don't think that girl has gone through puberty yet even if she is 16, It gives them an advantage being younger, but the olympics should be the best no matter what age.
 
wouldnt that make her more talented and more of a challenge for her if shes so young going against girls 3 years older?
 
i think it's stupid to have an age minimum, b/c the olympics are about showing the best at something from a country, and the best just might be under 16. that being said, it's wrong for china to break that rule, especially as the host country for the olympics.

Being younger is a huge deal. Younger girls are smaller, more agile, and are FEARLESS. The age minimum for gymnastics is setup to prevent younger girls from doing riskier things and getting hurt. Younger girls ARE better, and if we could, the US would use younger girls as well. I think they should lose their gold, it harms the integrity of the olympics, especially as the hosting country.
 
IOC wont do anything, they accept the passports the chinese gave them. IOC is really losing all credibility, this will be the last olympics for softball cause they decided the US is too dominate, they wont approve skiing pipe despite it being the largest growing aspect of skiing (SIA reported twintips the most sold type of skis), and now they just brush off something obvious that china is covering up. shame on the IOC, people try to cheat, its part of sports, but if your not going to get any penalties for it, why not try to do it.

Chinese is not a race sir. They are asian, or of Asian descent. I fucking hate China and its communist bullshit - I love asians. Hell thats the reason why Chinese people come here or put their babies up for adoption.
 
just wait until the next summer olympics and see her age. if she is less than 20 we will know something is up.

There are rules for a reason and if there is a rule book you cant pick and choose the rules that you want to follow.

Being younger in Gymnastics is an advantage because not going through puberty makes you more flexible and smaller/lighter.

And whoever says it is gay is a tool. Are you seeing what these guys and girls can do. I think its pretty sick not that I would watch it on a regular basis but it has some of the same elements of skiing.

Not to mention the incredible amount of dedication they exhibit.

China is fucked up though most of these girls started programs when they were only 3 years old and not aloud to see their parents. In my opinion thats a human rights violation.

What this whole Olympics feels like to me is the Berlin Olympics of 1936 where a lot of propaganda and shady shit went down then just a few years later massive war. I am just waiting for all the controversy to boil over after the Olympics.
 
if you look at the american team (in gymnastics) compared to china's, it looks like we could be their parents!
