Does any one know if this proposed buy out went through? I saw thread about 9 months ago regarding this topic with no follow through? I doubt this will have any massive changes in the day to day operations but was particularly interesting. It will be interesting to see how it affects the global skiing scene. It makes me curious of what other skiing related ventures are taking place in China. Could we see new resorts, or a Chinese Vail competitor?

I don’t think this will effect the ski industry too much but seems like the chinese are buying everything now

My problem with this is that our money will be going to a corrupt economy that fuels a very unstable and unfair community. I don't want the money I pay for the taxes involved to support a brutal government that treats it's citizens so horribly

Well I mean come on American Consumers are in part to blame for this, even before this buyout happened we were still sending our taxes to support them since they manufacture a good percentage of our goods.

It’s unfair to say that the Chinese have never been invested in the “skiing scene” when almost every ski brand/ outerwear brand/ the tech that goes into the industry has exploited labor from China. At some point in time Chinese Labor fueled all of you rich American’s hobby.

It’s only fair now that they have more representation in the industry.

This thread reminds me of the time an entire community started to murder Osage Tribal Members whom had recently acquired large sums of wealth simply because this Particular Community felt threatened and Jealous that such people as Osage Indians should acquire wealth rather than themselves.

My main concern is if the growing middle class in China we keep hearing about doesn't buy in to the sport post-Beijing Winter Olympics. Feel like I’m seeing/hearing more activities of Chinese investment into Winter sports leading up to the Winter games. Wouldn’t want to see Salomon, Armada, etc get left high and dry because the sport flopped in China.

LOL yeah because Chinese investment groups are SO different from any other investment group that doesn't give a shit about the companies in their portfolio other than 10x-ing them for the investors.

It clearly wasn't the point you were trying to make.

Nothing has been announced yet, these things take awhile. It wasn't until Dec 2018 that the offer was actually announced and not til feb this year that the offer was approved.

It does look like the takeover will be going through though since 97% of the votes and shares are now owned by the consortium from the offer so it will be a matter of time before it's officially announced.
