Chill Dubstep

Kill Paris and Seven Lions are pretty chill. Check out the Kill Paris remix of "baby come back" and Seven Lions "days gone by"

*Days To ComeThat song is not "chill" at all, but it is really great.

I think a lot of people just consider all electronic music to be Dubstep and don't bother with all of the sub genres.

Such a pet peeve of mine. I love dub and all, but I feel kinda degraded when people call every song I listen to dubstep just because it has a synthesizer in it.

I feel like it could work either way, he did say he love's Dub, but was referring to dubstep. therefore, he was calling dub dubstep, no?

I've never actually heard of dub as a separate genre, can someone post a link? I guess my post was rather hypocritical haha, my bad, but at least you know what I meant

60 second music lessons by Dan, Vol 1:Dub predates dubstep and the ilk by almost half a century, it's origins stem from the producer Lee Perry, who recorded a ton of legendary reggae acts of the time, including marley. Dub grew out of reggae. In the most simplified explanation, dub can be described as reggae instrumentals with boosted lows. the dubplate (completely different use of the word dub, but it actually ties into the genres developement) grew in popularity with dub culture, as it was the easiest way to get remixes out to DJs before the internet existed. Dubstep got it's origins from drum and bass, itself a successor of Dub. D&B grew into its own took dub and doubled its speed. Dubstep took that sound and halved it again, but placed even more emphasis on the lows and with the addition of synthesized basslines.

If I wanted to title it 3 minute music lessons, then I would have covered that. but as the title decided upon was 60 second music lessons, I had to trim some fat. Sort of how german history books somehow skip from rebuilding after WWI to rebuilding after WWII..
