Chile or high north

so my parents told me that for my graduation present that i could either go to Chile to ski, or High North. which one would you / should i pick?
 
Well you should analyze it upon what you want. Do you want to ski by yourself or with a group of kids being taught? Mostly park or mostly not? One week at camp or a couple of weeks in Chile for the same price? It could really go either way depending on what you want to get out of this trip.

I would go Chile chills, but that's just me.
 
depends on where you are in your skiing. if you think you are as good as you want to be, and can make the best of the trip, chile, if you think you need to learn more and want to get better (where i am now) id pick high north.
 
..Depends on where you're going in Chile, Portillo.. Valle Nevado, El Colorado or Termas de Chillan? Some resorts get completely taken over by racers during Aug/Sept. But these are huge resorts, and have only a fraction of the people that Blackcomb does during the summer.

Then again, the same thing can be said for Blackcomb glacier, this summer it was foggy and crappy conditions most of the time. There was some sun, but other years have been better.

The park will be better at High North, as will the night life. Chile has some good powder and big mountain skiing.
 
um wtf? im pretty good at steeps and shit. i go to Utah and those places every winter.

the fact of the matter is..whether i want to ski pow alot, or ski park.

its not a matter of kids my age being there because in Chile id be with my friend Shane anyways..and at high north id be 18 so wouldnt i be with the adults?

i can ski anything. its not that.
 
Wow what a dumb question.. Should I go slide 800 vert of slush on a glacier in the middle of summer on nothing steeper than a blue run....or go ski some of the sickest terrain on earth and get to ski pow all summer instead?

You must be a really dumb girl if you cant decide that by yourself.
 
Go to High North, you can go ski powder when you get older. I guarantee your skiing will get alot better if you go to high north rather than Chile. So it would be much more worthwhile.
 
i wasnt sayin u couldnt ski. i could prolly ski most steeps n shit. im just sayin id rather take the learning experience of skiin with all those crazy coaches at high north.
 
if you go to chile, dont go to portillo. go to valle nevado or los colorado. i went to portillo this summer and there is no park and the terrain isnt that great and its extremely remote and expensive
 
heres an example of how skiers can be different cuz well im with LCCkid and cant even imagine you chosing something other than chile but hey everyones different but i would say chile is a once in a lifetime thing
 
CHILE. who gives a fuck about a slushy park when u could ski pow, steeps. and a park if u want.
 
Chile, are you even serious? Yeah lets go ski slushy snow surrounded by 1000's of 13 year olds trying to be tanner hall with their panties around their ankles or........ ski in the Andes
 
high north is talked up. the weather is shitty all the time, the snow sucks, and its crowded. chile is one of those epic trips that most people dream about. if you have the chance to go to chile and pick high north instead, you will be shunned by the entire skiing community.
 
would you rather see the world, ski in an exotic location, and do real skiing or ski with these losers.
 
well uh, highnorth has it's perks, but honestly, i thought it was a rip off when i went. don't get me wrong, it's fun as hell, but you can get better coaching in freestyle or where ever if you look for it... chile i'm sure would make a way better memory to look back on... if i was taking a trip, i'd way rather do what i wanted rather than basically train for a week straight on the same terrain everyday.
 
duuuuuh, Chile! You also get to be a foreigner, meet a different culture and language, ski crazy steeps and deep snow and such. Actually go to Argentina, it's a more varied country than its neighbour, the beef is amazing, and they need more tourism than Chile because they deserve it. Well South America for sure, high north is like typical north america, parties and stuff which would be awesome, but if you asked any of the coaches there where they'd rather be they'd tell you South America for sure.
 
actually yeah if its in the future it probably wouldn't make a difference where in south america you went right? well go to patagonia if you can. it's amazing.
 
yeah.... you only have soo many chances to go to Chile, and its cheap enough to go to Whistler for a while that you can go there anytime in your life. But chile will have the biggest culture shock. In whistler all that is is different is that money is more pretty and smarties are acctaully M&M's
 
i am surprised that you would even bother to choose between chile or high north. sure high north is fun and all but you are still skiing in north america. i would choose chile in a heart beat, amazing terrain, great pow and it's winter over there. therefore actual snow and not just left over. i would go do some REAL skiing and have the time of my life in chile, and live in a different culture.
 
def. chile. there shouldnt be any doubt. high north is high north but chile is in south america and amazing
 
dont go to chile. instead go to argentina.

Reason #1 - Argentina is about a third the price of chile. $1USD = 3pesos.

in chile $1USD is almost on par.

Reason #2 - Las Lenas is the sickest resort ever.

Reason #3 - South America Snow Sessions is a super sick two week camp that teaches you park, big mountain and spanish. Plus its cheap.

Reason #4 - I will be coaching for them.

plus the party scene in Las Lenas is sick, just dont tell your parents that.

i'm in kind of the same predicament. i dunno where i'd rather go though. high north was so fun last year and i definatly wanna go back and i want to go to chile too. maybe i'll get lucky and go to both but thats probably a fat chance cause it'll be mad expensive to go to high north, chile, and college.
 
chili is kind of a once in a life time thing, you can get good skiing, go some place chill, have the time of your life, make the most of it. i would choose chili
 
I've been working in Santiago since June so skied every weekend of the season. Now I don't know a lot about High North but from what I've read it seems very unlikely it will be a better choice than Chile.

Personally I would actually go with mckeeman's advice and go to Snow Sessions in Las Lenas...Argentina is cheaper than here, and although I wasn't able to make it as far as Las Lenas this winter, other people I met in Valle nevado and el colorado said that it is incomparable to anything else...and cheaper!

i'm in the same toss up ive been to hn and its a blast sorta like a nonstop ski party but im not shure how well chile will compare to hn i think im gonna go back to hn but ive still got like 3 months to decide
 
i'll say it again SOUTH AMERICA. camp is cool, but it's crowded, horrible conditions, full of worthless people who are more so there to get laid or show off their excessively nice setup, and extremely expensive. i want to go back really badly, but when i didn't go last year it was no big deal because i can learn just as much in a couple weeks at my home mountain all for free. skiing south america is just amazing.
