Children of men

what the fuck was that.... seemed like 28 days later.... it felt like i was in the rain with a shitty umbrella listing to coldplay

fucking england... GET OVER YOURSELFS ENGLAND YOU GAVE AWAY CANADA AND AUSTRAILIA YOU FUCKED UP BAD!!!!!!!!!!!

i thought the camera work filming was extreme when the action came it made it like 10X more intense but i thought it would be more of a shooter the main dude didn't even touch a gun! he did own with the car doors tho..

that movie was amazing the ending was confusing but hopefully they will be a sequel so i can fuckign see wat happens next

No way theres going to be a sequel. And Theo never picks up a gun because he is a christ figure.

1) He wears sandals like jesus.

2) He is peaceful. Never has or shoots a gun.

3) Sacrifices himself for the greater-good of mankind.

Went to the movies with some free passes I had laying around.

Complete utter waste of the passes IMO. I woulda been pissed if I had payed for that movie.

The plot was poorly developed, and the whole storyline was about as predictable as you could possibly get.

well movies that are made to tackle more intelligent subject matter with lots of room for analysis, great acting, great characters, excellent and very difficult to execute filming, and one of a kind story, are clearly not meant for the demographic that is newschoolers.

just because someone doesn't like the film does not mean that they lack the analytical capacity to interpret this movie. it seems to me that this is a common reply from left wingers when someone doesn't like this film. this movie just rides on the wave of anti-facist hysteria created by extreme left wingers. same goes for v for vendetta.

yeah there was a lot of crist like idols used in the movie... but realy. its so goddam british its fuckin weird. its good and very creaitve... and are they all taking the same pills????

no not really. I am actually not left wing like you clearly think. As well i would have to highly disagree that this film is on the verge of fanatical left wing propaganda like you also seem to think it is. Why do you see a future similar to this so unlikely? Do you not see the world around you? I see events that are the beggining of a third world war. Those battle scenes in the film are already a reality for many around the world. I think your comment comes from someone to naive to realize the world really is collapsing.

easily the best movie ive seen in a long time, like the reviews says, it makes you believe and think. Its extremely realistic and has a very well developed plot.

well from the point of a filmaker like making people pissed and thinking about what could happen.

but for reel britan would get fucked to

So you're trying to say that I lack the analytical abilities to understand the movie?

Sure. I guess I must.

Nevermind the fact that there was not ONE unpredictable moment at any point in the movie.

Filming - Yes, it was very well filmed.

Frankly, I wasn't entertained though. It wasn't all that deep, and when a movie is that predictable, I find myself sitting there just wishing for the end so I can go home because I already know what the general outcome will be.

You want a good controversial movie, go watch Arlington Road.

Yeah, understandable, and true. However, this movie was just lacking in my own opinion.

I didn't sit there saying wow, afterwards, and I most certainly would have been pissed if I had spent my hard earned money on it. I didn't sit there pondering any of the topics raised in the movie.

I love a good deep movie. I love a movie that makes you go "oh shit" and think about what is going on around you. And I have seen many that have done that for me.

And in my personal opinion, Children Of Men was not one of them.

that was what this movie did and if you dont think that than you don lack the analytical ability to process a good film.

Haha, fine.

Whatever you want to believe. Just offering an alternate view of the movie.

You owe me this though, I stated my reasons for why I felt it was a poor movie.

State your reasons on why you find it to be such a great movie? What made it so analytical, and what did it make you think about?

o my god that movie broke my mind

i loved it.

def one of the most crazyest movies lately. most of the others are boring

it was sick. somehow my friend got a copy of the dvd that is used for film critiques to look at for awards. good stuff

i didnt think it was nearly as political as v for vendetta. sure there is critique of authoritarianism but i thought the themes were more genereal than political commentary. i wont describe it for those who havnt seen, but when he walks out of the building and everything stops was one of my favourite scenes in a movie.

Yeah, fucking left wingers railing against authoritarianism. They need to wise up, facism is quite obviously the way we need to be going.

I dunno...i hate movies where directors go:" Well i want to leave it for the audience to annalyse(sp?)." It just means that they are to damn lazy to write out a plot to tie up all the lose endings. Honestly, i want out of a film like that feeling seriously let down. When i go to see a film itsnot to go there and leave feeling confused dissatisfied. I want to come out of film feeling that i got a great story and a good expearence.

so you can draw a couple parallels, so what? buddy, the movie is based on a book that was written by a british author BEFORE the bush administration. in fact, many considered it to be christian propaganda. there goes your argument.

semantics. it's kind of obvious you were implying a "hysteria" that has come about from the bush administration. the movie makes direct references to the iraq war, torture at abu gharib, and other bush policies. and while these references are certainly a looser, more political adaptation of the book, there's a much larger theme that sheds politics altogether.

but if you hate it, then it's your prerogative. at least we can agree that debating on here is so fucking pointless. i'm done.

Touche!

Cinematography was outstanding, sick, hard to film uber long sequence shots.  If you thought An Inconvinient truth was scary, watch the documentary in the bonus features....

it was no pee wee's big adventure, but last part when they are in the refugee camp is intense

haha well said...i just saw movie and loved it.

filming was so good, acting was awesome, and the action scene at the end was superb.

A must see.

This movie was super well done and I really liked it, mostly because I've studied Atwood's stuff and I like the idea of distopia novels for allegories. I think people that said stuff like "plot didn't develop well", "too predictable", and "held an agenda to preach" weren't viewing it in the right mindset. The plot was fine, it went along we enough I felt, it reflected the whole "society circling the drain" state well with the slow parts with Jespar. Also the ending is good too. Kind of like in A Handmaid's Tale where you don't know how it really ends. Just reflects living in an authoritarian society, nobody who was invovled with the girl probably found out what really happened. But the imagery i enjoyed the most was the Guernica tapestry in his brother's place. It really set commentary on the whole ironic/distopic world.
