I'm drawn, i'm a chick but i don't think i should ride small skis. other than spinning faster do short skis give me any other advantages? I think i need some bigger skis

 
how big are you? im guessin not big enough for 180's (just cuz most girls i know dont ride anything that long) so i would get the 174 Scratch.

i'm not that big at all, 5'4. i used to ride 163s and i liked those a lot, but i was thinking about going into a 170 something, im not too sure

 
5'4'?

I'd say stick with a mid 160. You could ride 170s, but they may be a little difficult to control.

WHAT?? im like 5'7-8' and i ride 165 and i think they are too big, they are over my head, u should be riding the 161 1080's, unless u like those hiuge skis, i like mny skis about my nose, yep, thats how i like them

whats up with everyone riding short skis? I was skiing today and saw a bunch of big guys on 161 1080s. it looks so dumb. we need to start getting back to the oldachool roots. and BTW ski length is mainly determined by weight not height. yeah height matters but weight tells you a lot more. I know most girls don't like going around gving out their weight but its the only way you'll get any worthwhile feed back

in general, for park skiing, your skis should be a little shorter than you. with the new fat twin tips (scratch, v-pro, new 1080, public enemy), you can go a little shorter because they will still have the same surface area. the stiffer the ski, the shorter you can ski it, 170cm v-pros ride better than 180cm concepts in my oppinion, because they are stiff.

take into account your weight, height, the stiffness of the ski that you are getting, and it's width. a lot of variables, but if you get it right, you'll be a happy camper.

I think as much as weight, people should consider what type of terain they are skiing. I say, i fyou don't need a long ski why ski it. Who cares how it looks, I bet they can be as good as anyone on those skis that are 'too short'. Good day
