Chicago

I'm going there with the fam in July, can anyone give me some insite on what are some cool interesting things to do in chi city? Thanks NS

I grew up in thew Chicago area. Around the 4th there is the Taste of Chicago downtown which is always a good time. On the 4th in Milenium park there are free concerts going all day and headliners at night. Also, pretty good fireworks show the 3rd and 4th. If you have time check out Wrigleyville, a real fun area to hangout and then go to a game and watch the cubs lose.

THE CUBBIES! but depending upon where your seats are, upper seats at Wrigley field even in July are cold as a witches tit because of the breeze of the lake.

Also, go to the art musuem and take a picture like Ferris Bueller did. Then, grab a Chicago dog and don't ask for ketchup.

*** also, pick up a Fukudome cubs jersey while your at it. Although sometimes, I find it difficult to where in public

Millennium Park is cool. If you want touristy stuff, check out some of the museums. I really enjoy the Field Museum. Go to the top of the Sears Tower (or whatever the hell it's actually called now). See a show at the Second City, they are absolutely hilarious. I've enjoyed it every time I've gone. Umm, get some pizza ahhbviously. Go to Navy Pier. Walk the Magnificent Mile. Explore the city and check out some local restaurants. Chicago is an amazing city, there's always something fun to do.

i actually am here right now visiting..

really, after seeing the obvious touristy things and self pic'ing yourself at the shiny bean... just put your cellphone in your pocket, and walk to wherever looks cool. and keep an eye out for whatever you are interested in.. and find small hole in the wall stores, shops, cafe's, eateries, etc.

I've never understood why kids come to NS to ask questions that very few, if anyone will be able to answer as well as other sites. Uhhhhh its called google. Type in "what to do in chicago" and I'm sure hundreds of sites will pop up telling you exactly what to do, where to go, what to eat, etc.

Maybe people want ideas from others who share the same interests?

Chi-town - check a Cubbies game from the bleachers, get drunk.

Walk around Mich ave. and State St.

Sounds corny but go on a chicago river tour, drink, relax.

Check out a skyscraper bar.

people ask Newschoolers because when you visit, the world feels a little smaller and your heart feels warm and fuzzy knowing a fellow skier enjoyed the same place. The funny thing ; I'm not being sarcastic haha

i came and asked on ns because i want to know what kids my age would do. if i go to google sure it tells me 101 things to do in chicago but i wanna hear it from kids similar to me because they probably know some cool things locals only know.

Museum of Science and Industry is pretty sweet, Portillos beef sandwiches and Lou Malnatti's pizza. If you're old enough Goose Island brewery is pretty cool. Go see the bean. If you're there around the 4th the Taste is pretty awesome. Air and Water show is August is cool, fighter jets flying all around downtown doing formations and stuff.

go to Gino's East and get a chicago style pizza. Portillo's and get a beef sando. Wrigleyville and get wasted. Navy Pier and ride the ferris wheel. if you're there for the taste, DEFINITELY go check that out. hit up Michigan Ave and do some shopping. hit up damn near any random corner off of cicero and check out the chi town dope....one of the best open air drug markets in north america. there's literally a million and one things to do in chicago. super rad city.

went there like two years ago, one of my best memories was visiting the park beside the Art Institute of chicago. you know the one with this thing.

also, cubs game is a must.

Being that I grew up in the city, and was born there I feel like i have a pretty good grasp in Chicago.Def go see Millenium park, the bean, shed aquarium is really really cool, museum of science and industry is really really cool, and I think Mythbusters in there right now. A cubs game is a must. They suck so bad right now you can go right to the ball park and get cheap bleacher seats. Go to the top of the Willis tower and walk on the sky deck, which is basically a glass overhang..its pretty neat.

The best deep dish pizza in Chicago is Lou malnati's, hands down. Go to Hot Doug's on California if you want to eat at the best gourmet hot dog joint of your life (duck fat french fries). There will be a minimum of a 30-45 min wait, but its well worth the wait. The best beef in the city is at Al's beef its amazing. You should go to the one on Taylor st, get some beefs, and the walk over to Mario's Italian Ice stand, and get the best Italian Ice you can get.

Take a boat tour at Navy peer. Go to North Ave beach for the day, and party at Castaways Bar, which is the best beach bar in the City.

Bike along the massive bike path along lake michigan. If your old enough go down to Rush and Division, tons and tons of bars and restaurants. It is hopping every night during the summer.

The taste of chicago is good, but expensive, and I don't really go anymore because the quality and quanity of food establishments have gone down in recent years.
