Chestnut or sunburst?

where do u live that those are your options, there are better parks inbetween the two places, cascade and tyrol pop into my mind real quick. I really liked chestnut when I was there last season, it was windy and iccccy though.

Well i've never skied chestnut before but sunburst is really nice and last year was way better than cascade but cascade really sucked. Also at sunburst there's always at least 2 or more park skiers on any day but like i said i've never skied chestnut so i cant really say

YES!! thats what ive been trying to explain to them all this time. even though chestnut and sunburst have a sick ass park .its way to tiring to drive out there every week. especially where we live. plus bad weather conditions will easily tag another hour to the trip. such a waste of gas and mileage on the car. if you really love SKIING. then the smartest choice would be to go quantity over quality.

isn't wilmot near chicago too?

i've never riden wilmot, sundown, or chesnut so i'm not really sure why i commented in this thread...

Alpine is def where id get a pass if I were you. Chestnut is cool, but the runs are lacking I think. I cant spend a whole day in a park anymore, I just get bored. Alpine has some decent runs, plus 2 high speed quads so you can really get some laps in. Plus when I lived in northern IL it was only like 40mins away.

alpine had a really good park last year. and no sunburst is more then 30 mins from alpine.and your friend thinks you should get one to alpine as well.i dont know who had the better park....

SB is an hour from aukesha WI, alpine is 30 mins south of waukesha. You are looking at least an extra hour if not more to SB. Alpine has better rails than SB, b/c SB has none. Well they do have one, but its tiny. They are sopposed to be getting 2 handrails though this season. As far as the jumps someone else should chime in about the jumps at alpine, the ones at sunburst are nice, the landings and takeoffs do get icey from all those boarders.

alpines big jump was big on shelter was awesomethen the big jump was mohawk was good it was super fun. it was doubleable at the begining of the year.yeah i thought alpine had alot more rails, but id dit want to say i thougt alpine was better without knowing.they should be getting some more new rails or boxes to. and they opened early last year to. thanksgiving weekend.

if you check out the Thirdward videos those are mostly from Sunburst

But not having been to Chestnut (but hearing about it) i would rank them Chestnut, Sunburst, Alpine

Sunburst kills alpine hands down, but chestnut sounds like its usually great. Also thirdward is always at sunburst so there is a crew there to ski with

Dont forget better runs and better lifts too.

SB is only the clear winner in one catagory, boxes. They have some nice boxes like a rainbow, flat to rainbow, double rainbow, and probably a few others.

alpine had 2 jumps on a run. thyr run is twice as long as sunburst. alpines jumps suck. thyrs no landing and the landing is ice. and try having a consistant speed going in to them. as for rails, they always tip and shake

SB has way more boxes, all different kinds, probably more rails now, 2 dedicated parks, not really any gapers going through parks, legit setups for the hits, a big park with bigger hits, tow rope, a ton of features, a park crew fixing stuff daily. We went to alpine this year and were really disappointed

and i have never, ever seen so many dangerous gapers jumping off the sides of lips going up to rails, dropping in with no regard, going in huge packs, cutting you off, etc anywhere else. So so many gapers. The park is a regular run so if any of them take a left off the chair lift theyre pretty much in it.

at SB the park gets crowded a lot but at least its with park rats that dont make me nervous to drop in or get cut off

we had 3 parks, beginer, intermediate, and the big park.park crew is out all day every day as well.you went once from i remember it was the day of the comp where it was snowing. so of course it wasnt at its greatest.

we shred SB every season

SB has its downfalls also, but Alpine and SB are equal distances away from me and ill choose SB every time. Now Tyrol is in a league of its own, i wish it were closer to me

^ yes but i say that with some nervousness. i'm not sure what to expect.
i guess i'll jump in on this little debate about Chestnut, Sunburst and Alpine.
Chestnut - Day I was there it was super windy and cold. The park was nice and would have been awesome on a nice day. The park had some nice flow and a lot of different and fun features. The runs are decent and it was super crowded but the price was like 10 bucks or less a ticket that day. Overall pretty fun place.
Sunburst - Small hill two parks (one small the other bigger. Boxes on boxes on boxes. Although they are getting rails they are getting basically the same thing. Both rails are handrails and are 15 and 20 feet. Great attempt at getting rails but get some variety. Jumps are pretty legit and are standard or a little above standard for the midwest. Robby is a great groomer and sunburst would really lack if he wasn't there. Overall it's a good place for park rats (hence why andy likes it so much).
Alpine - Biggest hill out of all of them. Might not be true but thats my opinion. Has a couple parks, a decent mix of rails, boxes and jumps. The quality of their features kinda lacks but they are still hittable. Their runs are longer and the features in the parks are more spaced out. When I was hitting the jumps last year they seemed kinda sketchy to me. Their runs are longer than both places I think and are pretty fun for cruising the hill. the high speed quads are pretty nice and super comfy. I like alpine for a couple days in the season just because it's a little too expensive for me. I'd probably be going there if the price was a little less.
Overall I'd say for the OP this is how I'd list the hillsChestnutAlpine Sunburst

yeahhhh i love tyrol, i definitely want to come out to sunburst this year, i've wanted to for the past two seasons and just never gotten around to it
so some day this season tyrol will roll up to sunburst and shred with the thirdward

The rails are poorly set up. bad transitions and they shake. for some reason they always put a 10ft. tall ramp before one of the boxes on the bigger terrain park. the jumps dont have a table or a landing. they were very close to quarter pipes in the middle of the terrain park. As far as gapers go idk what you are talking about, there are so many gapers. especially on weekends when they have the races on the run right next to the terrain park.

a 10 foot tall ramp? deff not.pretty sure i know what im tlkaing about since i was there everyday and helped out on park crew.not one rail ever shook, they had to let the rails sit over night so they would be solid. each jump had a landing. the jumps were step downs not table tops. get your shit straight.

You all need to just stop fighting alpine is a good hill for what we had to work with there, if any of you new my boss u would undersstand that the park could be a little bit better! The fact is if we didnt have boss that just likes to mess shit up with his groomer becasue he is bored then are jumps would be nicer but there is only so mych u can do by hand. As for the rail they were never shaky except the hand rails becasue ppl could never wait to let them set. so keep fighting about stupid shit

yeah i know , i talked to steiner though and he said some of the thirdwarders were goin to alpine this year, i really hope there are a lot of skiers at sb...

maybe you should grow some balls and actually hit the stuff and stop bitching. never once saw you do anything over the jumps. but i saw other kids thorowing rodeo 5s, 7s, 9s, double backs, front flips, corks 3s, 5s, 7s, 9s. looks like the jumps seem just fine if they can do that. its the midwest, not fucking Colorado. its not park crew who runs the cat. its chris. not them. he does the best he can. goto grand geneva, take a look at thier jumps and youll love alpines.

Yea he is right u never did hit the jump once i had no problem thrown double backs, rodeo anything or any type of spin! Maybe u do need to grow some balls and not just do sick 180s over the jump, but get over the fact that its the midwest the hills are not good and maybe if we had a ski hill that cared about the park it would be a bit nicer, and dont u ever say park crew doesnt now how do do shit becasue i spent a shit load of time there and worked my ass of to do my best at that fucking park, maybe if the groomer cared bout it this would be different u little puss

hahaha word to that. he's my friend and all. but his shit just got BURNED. i liked the jumps. i basically learned all my spins on it. and 7's (claim)

why would i go to grand geneva u dumb fuck, ok i still dont see how you think alpines jumps and rails are perfect. and the park crew never fixed anything they just walked around, andi guess u busted ur ass on the park crew and made a shitty park

get fucked, your just pissed cuz you know were both right. your friend even said you got owned. so stfu or back your shit up this year, which im 100 perfect sure you wont.

im just saying goto grand geneva, hit thier jumps then tell me whos jumos suck. i still think they are prefect cuz i hit them every day during the winter. not just on weekends like you. and yeah they did fix everything. they were out all day everyday fixing lips, salting, rakeing jumps, building new features, but once again you coundlt hit the dfd box, so you would know. i love how your the only one saying how bad the park is when you couldnt do a dam thing in it. so yeah if i was in id blame it on the park to and not take the responsibilty myself, but im not in you so i dont have to worry.

ok i just started skiing a 1 and half ago, and i go once a week. how long of you been skiing?

but i still know what is a good fucking park, u just liek alpine because live right there u dumb motha fucker
