Cheney: could he be a bigger asshole?

what is this that i hear about him saying that there will be a terrorist attack on the US if Kerry is elected?????

HOLY FUCKING SHIT! how could he say anything more retarded then that? First of all, i want to know how he claims to know such things....a little suspicous in the first place, although im not suggesting anything.... and second of all, becasue i guerentee that he has no significant evidance that he could say such a thing at all, I am simply owundering how he can honestly expect the American population to have a decent reaction to such a ramark. I mean it is unbelevable and completly insane.

If anything i think a terrorist attack is more likley if Bush is re-elected. I mean he cant honestly think that we are scaring the terrorists with our war can he? WE ARE JUST PREVOKING THEM. THESE TERRORISTS BELEVE THAT THEY WILL DIE AND GO TO WHATEVER IT IS THAT THEY CALL THEIR HEAVEN AND BE MET BE A BUNCH OF VERGIN WOMEN, THEY WON'T BE SCARED!!! the reason i say it is more likley is becuase bush if the guy who originally prevoked them atleast in terms of recent times and he has atleast givven these terrorists the biggist excuse to commit an act of terror on the Unites States.

If Cheney truely beleves that (which i honestly dont think he does) he is a HUGE idiot for obveous reasons and if he doesnt beleve it he is also a huge idiot for lieing his ass off and making statments with absoluty no reasoning.

i agree with cheney, you are a whiny lil bitch john kerry will just sit around and pick his butt and do nothing to stop terrorism.

VOTE BUSH

wait. weren't bush and cheney in charge for 8 months before september 11th? they've already failed us once, and more spectacularly than anyone could possible imagine

i dont think we can say that if the president was different that SPT 11 would not have happened. you dont know that, jsut like Cheney doenst know that if Kerry is president, that a terrorist attack is ANY more likley

Yeah, I am not a big fan of Cheney. However, Bush is not in charge of gathering information, so I think that it is unfair to place the blame on him. Also, the majority of the planning for the attacks was carried out during the clintion administration. I think the biggest mistake was letting the terrorist training camps continue in 1995.

cheney at that same speach said that (paraphrasing) 'So what if we're going to be at a record deficit, it's not AS LOW as experts had perdicted.'

huuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhh. youre kidding right?

what gets me is how some people think that whenever a new admin comes in, their policies take immidiate effect, and therefore, anything that happens from the moment they take the inagural oath is directly a result of what that admin does. was bush operating on his own intel, and his own defense system at that time? i dont really know, but i doubt it. lets see... we havnt been touched since due to bush. lets tally up what happened in the preceeding years. there was the first WTC attack, there was that crazy in oklahoma city, Kobar towers, the embassy in nirobi, uss cole, etc. that all happend under... well, it wasnt bush. the same policies that allowed all that crap to happen were still in place on sept 11 no? if not, they certainly were durring the planning of it all, and durring the years leading up to the attack. so to say that they failed in that regard is kind of a stupid thing to say.

oh wait, i forgot. bush was in on the whole thing. thats right. him and the saudis. my bad. it is his fault. in fact, didnt he give all the 9/11 hijackers personal invites to a dinner at the whitehouse the night before? i dont really recall, but im sure he was good buddies with them.

Think maybe he could have spent a little more time getting his anti-terror program implemented, as opposed to spending the whole month of august on vacation on his ranch?? oh wait, he didn't have any anti-terror program and despite the warnings from Sandy Berger (who told Rice that she'd spend more time on al-Qaeda than any other issue; apparently she wasn't paying attention) and other Clinton officials, wasn't particularly concerned with terrorism. It's easy to be tough on terror after we've already been attacked. All indications are Bushco. didn't give 2 shits about it before 9/11. The first WTC bombers are in jail now. Newt Gingrich said Clinton did 'exactly the right thing' by launching missiles into Sudan and Afghanistan in 1998. Richard Clarke had drawn up a comprehensive anti-terror plan, much like what we've done since 9/11; Bush didn't want anything to do with it, as it was Clinton's.

More Americans were killed by islamic terrorists under Reagan's watch than under Bush Sr. and Clinton combined; where's the outrage at Reagan?

anewmorning, some of their policies do. if you look at an unimployment graph, you will see a sudden spike in un-imployment right when Bush is elected. no doubt SPT 11 made it alot worse but.....

here, you can see that just about right in 2000, unimployment takes a sharp spike:

here ya go; National unemployment rises that is from May of 2000. a long time before spt 11 and relitivly close to when Bush took office

I fail to see how you can come upon those conclusions from that statement. What he said was pretty straight forward. Simply put, he's saying that his party strongly believes in tighted security and fighting terrorism. If someone is elected that doesn't, then there is a greater danger that we will be hit.

It's common sense. Less protection = Greater probability of being attacked.

Sure, there are terrorists who are constantly trying to hit us regardless of who is in office or what security precautions are being taken. But, we are in a greater danger if our security was lowered. That's it.

Eat. Sleep. Breathe. Ski.

you can also see that in 1992, when Clinton took office after Bush Sr. unimployment imidatly started going down.

''It's common sense. Less protection = Greater probability of being attacked. '' first of all, that could be argued (although im not going to be the one to do it at shis point). and second it is prutty obvous that when he says 'wrong choice' he is refering to kerry. what does he think Nader is gonna win?

the reason i say that could be argued (although i dont really want to go into further detail about this in this thread) is that when you say 'security' you may be thinking of somthing else then i am thinking of. I think the war in Iraq is not for our security, we are mirly prevoking terrorists to attack us from this war. you i would assume think it is for our security. that is why i way it could be argued

In all seriousness, has the Bush administration actually done anything relevant to aid America? The tax cuts benefit people making well over the mean income, the 'new jobs' bush has supposedly created still leaves the jobless total higher than it was when he was elected, the war in Iraq is a complete fuck-up, they had no weapons of mass destruction and the whole campaign was basically an excuse to find Saddam Hussien, who had made assasination attempts on his Daddy, Bush Sr. What the Fuck. If Bush gets re-elected, I'm going to Whistler for the next four years.

I was actually speaking in regards to more domestic policies and securities here in the United States.

But look, Cheney is making a simple point here. You can read into it if you like, but there really isn't anything of substance in this arguement.

Eat. Sleep. Breathe. Ski.

yes and it was partially my mistake in adding all of the other stuff i had to say. Cheney's simple point is this: if kerry is elected a terrorist attack is more likley.

ya dude serously, what Cheney said is discusting and manipulative. that is my only point with this thread. atleast at this point as far as the miggle east is concerned, as long as we have a leader that brings our country into war the only way we can defeat terrorism is to KILL EVERY LAST TERRORIST! they are not afraid of dieing so what are we gonna do to them?

I think all that needs to be said about this topic is that whether he's right or wrong (and there's no way to prove that Kerry as president would cause a terrorist attack; it sounds pretty far-fetched to me), using fear as a manipulation technique to get votes is extremely shady, and the sort of people who would do that are not the sort of people one would want leading a powerful country, for many reasons. That's the gist of it as I see it.

Bush just needs to attack Kerry and thats the only thing he's really done in office, Iraq and the war on terror. since 80% of the vote is already decided, 40% Republican, and 40% Democrat, hes trying to levy the swing votes to vote for him by being Mr. America, the Commander in Cheif, and wearing Jesus on his sleeve for the religious yokels in the South.

Sorry to ram a stake up the ass of your optimism, but bush is ahead in the polls by a fair margin (though not a large one, as Fox would like you to think... 11 points my ass.)

SVHucker, FUCK YOU!!!! you obviously know nothing about the US's problem with terror. IT WAS CLINTON'S FAULT!!!!

-HE WAS OFFERED OSAMA BIN LADEN 4X!!!! AFTER THE '93 WTC BOMBINGS, BEFORE THE USSS COLE, THE BOMBINGS OF THE MARINE BARRACKS, AND THE EMABSSIES IN BEIRUT AND LEBANON

he sent the FBI overseas to investigate terrorist activities after the bombings, not a military force to fight back (they knew who did it) IE- HE TREATED THE TERRORIST BOMBING AS A LAW ENFORCEMENT PROBLEM!!!!!!!

clinton had 8 years to deal with terrorism, but he did NOTHING but give them a free pass!!! (yes, lets leave them alone so they can HIT US AGAIN!!!) he did nothing about them when he could have.

clinton had 8 years, bush had nine months!!!

next time put things in historical perspective when you give a time estimate

theres a lot more i could say, but you guys are already making fun of me cause im conservative, oh well, so much for lookin at the facts...

I think what Ghostdragon said was prefectly right. Bush's party has a strict enforcement on terrorism and if he is taken out this strict policy will be lifted leaving another oppurtunity for Terrorists to attack america.

aggro_sk8erboi, sorry to have upset you so much. You must be forgetting the 1999 executive order Clinton signed authorizing bin laden's assasination. As I said before, Newt Gingrich thought Clinton's anti-terror policies were the correct actions. Ask the WTC bombers if Clinton was tough on terror. I hear visiting hours are 4-6. He spent more time and money on terrorism than any president before him. You must also be forgetting that not only did Ronald Reagan not go after radical islamic terrorists in the 80s, but he authorized allocating funds and CIA training to bin laden and the other 'freedom fighters' in Afghanistan. Those were good terrorists in Reagan's opinion. So after Clinton had spent more time, focus, and money on terrorism than anyone else, and after he warned the Bush administration that the issue would become ever more important, how exactly did Bush tackle the problem before 9/11? I'd just love to know. Isn't the country's national security more important than his petty political squablles with the outgoing administration?

I'm sorry, the 9/11 attacks were Clinton's fault? Because I'm a bit confused... The republican party diverted over 200 FBI agents assigned to some portion of the witch hunt to find evidence against Clinton concerning his sex scandal. Those agents might have been better used to reply to texan flight instructors who complained of middle eastern students in their schools who didn't want to learn how to take off or land, or how about investigating URGENT reports of planned Al Qaeda attacks? No, Slick Bill's zipper took priority. I guess it is his fault, he deviously distracted them for planned attacks on American soil with his globally unimportant lova affair! How dare he?

moral issues are more important to me than anything else though, even if i disagreed with the war in iraq, i qould still vote for bush based on his moral standing (ie- prolife, heterosexual marraige only, etc..

Ann Coulter and Sean Hannity haven't exactly proven to be pillars of journalistic intergrity. Read Al Franken's book and he rips them apart. And I don't give a shit if you think his 'liberal bias' discredits him; we already talked about this here. He uses things called facts to back up his argument. Coulter and Hannity aren't as concerned with whether something is 'true' or not; they know their audience and that audience wants its beliefs reaffirmed, truth be damned.

I also see that the Amazon description of the dereliction of duty book includes this: 'He seriously questions Clinton's decisions to send troops to Somalia, Rwanda, Haiti, and Bosnia to accomplish non-military tasks without clear objectives.' Hmm that sounds familiar. Non-military tasks without clear objectives . . .

How many US soldiers died in those 4 countries combined?
