Alright. So I was in a situation about a month ago and I didn't know what to put for the surface on my box. I ended up searching google for "terrain park" and the first link I found was on wikipedia. I click on it and this is what I found.

Why are you looking at this? Go to the section on wikipedia where it says jibs. Second post in jibs is funboxes. Now im quoting from that section (funboxes) :

"Funbox: Similar to a rail, but wider with a ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) surface. May or may not have metal edges."

So I ended up using UHMW this past winter and it worked amazing. I didn't use coping and It still hasn't chipped. I got a piece 18" wide, 8 feet long, and 1/4 thick for like 60$. So worth it.

depends on how durable the stuff is. for hdpe 1/4 is to thin. and where did you buy this stuff?

HDPE is fine if it's 1/4" thick..........

The stuff this guy is using is even better than HDPE. 1/4" is fine for that also......do some research before you tell people that something isn't going to work. I use 1/4" HDPE and it's good.

i have that exact stuff and it tends to get sticky in the summer but for winter jibbing i have to say. Damn.

does i catch an edge at all? i have lexan on my box and when i try to lock on sometimes it catches an edge and shaves a nice piece off.

^ No that won't happen with UHMW. This stuff is super strong. In your first season with it it for sure won't chip but in later years it may. But this stuff is definitly stronger than HDPE or lexan.
