Help! I want to build a rail, and I need to know the cheapest way to build one.

I probably want just a straight rail, probably 15-20 feet or so. BTW, I dont want to use PVC, probably just metal and wood

Oh and I know this has probably already been discused, but search doesnt work right now.

I always go to construction sites and jack wood meatal pvc and other shizit. that is the cheapest and most honest way to go.

I just built one and it was 72$. Got to a steel warehouse, purchase a 4x2 or whatever size of square tubing you want to jib on. They come in 24 foot lengths. And get the thinnest wall on the tubing you can get. They will cut it for you so have them cut the legs and braces.(it's $2 per cut but you only need 4 cuts). After cuting the legs and braces it leaves you with a 15 foot or so length for the grinding part of the rail. The only trick now is to get somebody to weld the legs and braces on.

What store?

And could they weld it? cuz I dont have a welder...

And how could it be just 4 cuts? you have to have like 4 legs and at the bottom of each leg you need to have another tube for it not to fall down...

go to ur favourite urban rail in town. there is two ways to do this

[*]use a hacksaw and sever each joints that connect the rail to the ground

[*]if your lucky it may be bolted to the ground so get out your dads trusty old ratchet set and start ratcheting away

good luck budday

you only need 4 cuts. the steel is so structurally sound you only need the two legs and the two supports to hold it up from not falling down. As for the welding you need to know somebody to do it for you because the steel warehouse will not do it. I got my 24' peice of steel from a place called Metal MArt.

Hope this answers you questions 1080 dude.

by the way how do you quote peolpe here.

take metal work or something in school and get random metal for the supports and then jsut pay some money for the bar that u slide....and then its easy.....i guess

If you have a metal shop in school you can probably have that teacher do it as a welding demonstration. my teacher did it for free

Go to a supermarket and steal the cart collector rails. If ur lucky there will be a few extras out back. My friend got his rail that way.
