I'm looking at colleges for next year and I'd like to get a college where I could ski bum, and one that's not really above $15,000 a year and gpa is around 2.8-3.0 with math sat's-590, verbal- 440(i know real shitty..), and writing- 500. Anywhere in the U.S..

montana state university. Im almost positive im going there, but you can get in easy, and they give really good out of state scholarships based entirely on you're test scores, which you did pretty well on. I drove out there this summer and its real nice, gorgeous campus, not too big. Bridger bowl is like the local resort its like 20 minutes away and big sky is like an hour away...so you should definitely check it out.
 
yea me too, i got a scholarship of like 6500 bucks over thye 4 years for a 1570 or some shit on my SAT which is pretty sweet. so that is definitly playing on my decision between that and u of utah

Colorado Mountain College: Leadville, Steamboat, Vail, Silverthorne, Breckenridge, Rifle...(etc)

There are so many. I go to the one in Leadville, CO. Majors are Ski area operations, ski area managment, business, outdoor recreational leadership.

It's so sick, we get to drive bulldozers and take yoga for credit. This semester I go to school 2 days a week and work at Vail full time as a park ranger. It's only $8,000 a year I think. My classes this semester (I'm in Ski area operations) are:

Terrain park operations Lab

Trail grooming operations Lab

Ski Patrol Lab

Snowmaking Lab

Yoga

Public Speaking

Last semester:

Math

English

Heavy Equipment operations Lab

Intro to ski area operations

Outdoor emergency care

I would seriously consider going to this school. If your not interested in Ski area ops, then take business. i ski full time, and we just set up our backyard terrain park, 30 yards from the dorms (down flat down box, flat bar, down rail, etc)

Western State College - 20 minutes from Crested Butte

and it is a state funded 4 year university - don't go to a community college. Fairly cheep and they offer really good scholarships - i got a Bachelor's Business degree with a Marketing emphasis - they have a really good business program.
 
yeah with Montana State i dont think you even have to write an admission essay. and its a good school depending on what you study. bridger is a very decent place to ski.
 
no i never wrote an essay, and i got my acceptance letter a week after i sent in my application
 
i was looking at Montana state and it said that most of first year people dont' live at the colllege? what's up with that?

Lyndon State if you wanna stay in the east. I am in the ski resort program. ITs pretty easy and I ski everyday, plus there are always rails setup on campus and always people to ride with.
 
Weber State University is right next to Salt Lake City, it has like 3 ski resorts righ next to it, and all of the famous SLC ones are maybe an hour? Those ones are like Snowbird Alta Solitude and Brighton. However Snowbasin is a solid resort and would be right next to you, and Powder Mountain as well. Powder mountain is THE best ski bum resort in Utah super cheap and way sweet pow. Oh and wolf mountains there too, but they have like 2 chairs and they dont count really.
 
I think they're $520. And it's totally worth it when we get the bridger bowl cloud and it snows 50" on the upper mountain.
 
yea i went to colorado mountain college, and it was pretty sweet, just gotta make sure you stay seriuos so you dont get fucked when you goto a 4 year

 


id say u of u . you get to ski alot, and its pretty cheap and you only need about 2.5 gpa to get in. BIGG school though, dont know how mcuh your into that
 
go to western state college. crested butte is the gem of colorado, best skiing you can find and no lift lines, ever. plus the nickname of the school is wasted state, so you can never go wrong with that
 
it's not like Crested Butte is right next to the college though, it's 47 minutes away from it, any other colleges like within 15 minutes away?
 
most likely, a large part of the incoming class is from the general area, so there's no real need to stay on campus. bozeman isn't exactly a bustling metropolis. all it means is that there isnt going to be the 'crazy insane college party scene' every single weekend, which is ok. it also means youll have more time to get out bridger, which is very ok.
 
Hopefully Welfare is still in place when you graduate school, $8,000 a year. You would be much better of taking that money and saving it. Cost of 2 years at CMC = $16,000; value that it provides = infinetly negative.
 
Same thing could be said for the money you spend on snowblades. She's just getting a cool degree that can be used for a fun job, I see nothing wrong with that. I'd rather have a less glamorous job that I enjoy than spend a ton of money on a degree so I can pay it off quickly with a job I hate.
 
Why go to college for a degree in something you don't need a degree for though? Snowblades are not a waste of money. The two greatest purchases ever are. #1 The Louisiana Purchase - it gave us a place to keep minorities, and #2 me buying snowblades.
 
actually it didnt. kansas was the only state that allowed slaves, and that ended since the civil happened a few years after. some slaveholders took slaves to california, new mexico, and utah territories, but it was never legal nor illegal, was always met with huge criticism, and very few actually took advantage of it, since the land in the south was still very fertile. and we kicked the indians out of pretty much everywhere, they only had/have a few places in what was the LA purchase that are tiny as fuck compared to what they had.

it wasn't even constitutional, either. go jefferson.
 
actually kansas didnt allow slaves. they almost did but every body was killing each other and the anti-slavery forces ended up controlling kansas, making it free
 
well, yea, alot of people come from that immediate area, like some other person said. I know alot of people who are from out of area that stay on campus. but also, people from instate have friends/siblings that have been there and have a place off campus so alot of them just stay with them. I have a friend who's sister and a few of her friends go there, and she was an entering freshman at 20 (took time off to ski) and so she just lived with them. id say that if you want to party there's def PLENTY going on all the time. but if you dont want to no worries, just ski alot.
 
15 minutes? you'll never ever go to class. and they'll only legit school that it that close is MSU, which is argueably not that legit, as this thread has showed how little is required of MSU applicants. 47 minutes is goddamn close. thats like utah close
