What/where are some cheap hotel/motels to stay at in truckee or tahoe city area?

the best bet is find someone who lives there and crash on the floor. buy them some beer though. 'cuz otherwise you'd just be a mooching little bitch.

Use one of the search engines and type in

Doug's Mellow mountain retreat

its a cheap place near to Heavenly. Unfortuneately, its the only hostel I know in the area. $15 a night.

 
clair tappan lodge (sp?) it's through the sierra club and it's on the same road as sugarbowl. it's about 50 a night which is one of the cheapest things around.

From the start to the gun I never claimed to be right.
 
if you want to drive to stateline, about 25 mins from Alpine... tahoe biltmore.

$19 a night midweek, and free breakfast.

probably most of you are in school though. Otherwise you could hook up the $1.50 beers too, or free if you are gambling.

biltmore is on the stateline too, the northern one.

And they have the awesome $2.49 breakfast there

yes he means there is a town on the south shore, Stateline. The biltmore is in crystal bay, on the north shore.

 
The Biltmore, lol. Its cheap and you get to look at all the toothless cocktail waitress in the casino that just got done smokin crack. reminds me of the buffet eddie goes to in vegas vacation.
