hey, im looking for a small cheap mp3 player. only needs to hold a few hundred songs but i dont want an ipod cause i hear the battery sucks and its expensive. which ones would be good

can't really help you apart from re-assuring you that ipods suck. don't but them, and that goes for all of you.

cheap as in less than 200 i guess i could say. it only need to hold maybe 1-3 hundred songs

check ebay man, a couple hunfred song will be expensive, just go a little smaller and you will be set, there's no reason to need that mnay songs, once it fills upa nd you want new songs delete the old ones that you are proboblay sick of hearing

you would be lucky to find anything over 256 Mb for under $200. I have a creative Muvo with 128 Mb and it was about $100 and it is awesome, plus it doubles as a pen drive (to hold data)

i have a 256 gateway, holds about....65 songs...it was around 150. sorry, that's all i know. i'd consider it if i were you. no, no i wouldn't. not a few hundred songs.

rio cali 256 is what i have and it works perfect. if you want more songs buy an expansion card. i had a RCA lyra and it stopped playing everytime i hit a bump so i got the rio.

you need to realize tha mp3 players dont hold that many songs, mine was about 300 bucks and it holds about 45 songs.....

there is nothing wrong with the ipod. You can replace the battery for like $100 now. It's really not that bad.

Think of it this way. If u bought a vid camera, you'd expect to have to replace the battery after a year or so of CONSTANT use right? Then dont complain about the ipod. I love mine.

Just to clarify something, Apple has fixed their battery problem. that problem where they went dead after 18 months was only in the first and second generation models. the Ipod is still the number one music player out there. Anything that any other player comes with it can handle too.

i got an iriver 256 mb for about 200 but its on sale for 160 at the best buys here. its good because you can take your mp3's and turn them into wmas... a lot smaller filesright now i have 137 songs on it. pluss it onmly takes 1 aa battery which lasts for like a day and a half of skiing or probably a week of skating.. (warmer weather and not as continuous) deffinatly a great mps player in my opinion. look into it dude

yea matt is right n a great feature on the iriver mp3 player is u can record from line-in(cd player,computer)which is good cuz if u have napster u dont have to pay for the songs u can just record them on the mp3 player n upload them to ur comp then change them to mp3 n use dbpoweramp or the add-on to windows media player to convert them to WMA

 
i want one of those ipod minis. does anyone know how much space they have. it says 1000 songs but that doesnt really mean anything considering length and quality of the songs.

 
^ first off i have a 128 mb and i get 70.. you just need to resample the songs to like 64 kbs or what ever it is then you can a lot more takes lot less space and with the headphones you can't see a differents in quility. And for the memory card you can only put as much memory in the stick as your player has. You can't put a 256mb in a 128 mb mp3 player i tried it and it doesn;t work.

i've got an rca lyra, and it works fine. like suggested above, i have a 512 mb card and it plays plenty.

the ipod mini is the biggest waist of money. its 5 gigs smaller than the smalled regular ipod, but only costs 50 bucks cheaper. either shell down for a normal ipod or look at other companies

minidisk.... this the obvious choice. you can get an MD player for 150$ canadian, and one MD holds way over 60 songs, and another MD costs about 2$...ive had mine for 3 years and have yet to have a porblem.

or you could do what i did, get a real good sony mp3 cd player for 80 bucks, burn a mp3 cd with a 150 songs, but it in my jacket and ski. IT NEVER EVER SKIPPED, eventho it was vertical in my jacket all day long for several days, and i feel on it a couple times. even on harsh landings it was fine and on beat.

errrr. small? id say the best mp3 player out there IS the ipod, or the ipod mini. Or iriver, but noone can afford it.

Its def all about the minidisk player i got the walkman one from sony just resently and it is fuckin awesome..They arent too expensive and the discs are cheap too!!

 
well, i have a sony cd/mp3 player and i just wanted something a bit smaller. its nice cause hte cds can hold a few hundred songs. im just afraid ill break it. does anyone know if you can buy a hard case or a leather case for cd players?
