ok H, i know you really like Bowling for Columbine and i agree, it is a very good movie, but Moore takes advantage of people and stretches the truth. charleton heston has alzhiemers and it was really unfair for him. i dont like heston or his views, but he has alzhiemers and moore kinda took advantage of his disabilty

I'm not sure whats more idiotic the fact that we as americans kill 11,000 people a year with firearms......... or the fact that as a country havent done anything to stop the rampant use and distribution ( or even legality) of handguns and other firearms. Ok, so your statistic states that 11,000 americans are killed by guns a year. ok great. Even though that includes gang violence and criminals killed in the act, 11,000 are killed. Do you think that if there were no such things as guns people wouldnt seek other ways to kill one another? That these 11,000 deaths couldnt be pulled off with a knife, hammer, poison, club, anything? To be angry at Heston is ridiculous.

How about this, we outlaw guns. Government comes around and it is now illegal to own a gun. You think the criminals give back their guns? You think criminals cant mickey mouse some crude firearm? All this would accomplish is it would be easier for criminals to rape, murder, and steal from innocent, law abiding citizens. Without firearms there is no way for the common citizen to defend themselves. The police cannot instantly show up to your door when some murderer comes into your bedroom and tells your wife to spread em as he holds a gun to your head.

The point is that guns are a necessity. Whatever you are trying to get at by hating Heston is immature. What do you want to do about all these gun deaths? yeah theres nothing you can do except arm the people who obey the law to protect themselves from those who dont. You never hear on the news about the store owner who protected himself from the robber with the pistol he keeps under teh counter. You dont hear about the elderly man who protected his hosue and possessions from the 3 men in ski masks who broke into his house. I would bet that of those 11,000 persons who were killed by guns, who werent criminals or part of gangs, close to 0% had a gun with them. Guns save lives, they dont take them away. It is known that in areas with strict gun laws, there is more crime, and vice versa.

For these reasons I can not see why one could dislike Heston, he has done nothing wrong.

P.S. Canada has more strict laws on guns and nobody kills each other with them...

In fact no other country kills each other even 1/10th as much as you guys!

I don't know why this is, but maybe the laws aren't the problem. There are as many guns/person in Canada as the US, and it is easier to get a gun in Canada, but we don't kill each other with them. Maybe it's not the laws but the different attitudes we have.

Well after having read all the post's i can thank god im english and i dont have to deal with this shit. Here guns are illegal and the street police dont carry them. I like it that way, i feel safe. Americans kill each other cos there egotistical and paranoid.

Nah rebel its not that bad. If your caught with a gun on your person or in your car, even if it doest have bullets in it you can expect about 3 years in jail. so i suppose its pretty bad. We dont need them so there no excuse for having one and thus the penaltys are severe. Farners can have shotguns for pest control but to get one you have to go through months of shit to even get near one, And even then you have to store the gun, the firing pin and the ammo in seperate safes.
