to me i think mahre is the most progressive, some of the stuff he does in the backcountry is stuff nobody thinks is possible till he does it, same with vanular, he does crazy technical tricks with soooo much style, like the rail transfer and rodeo 450 270 out.

i dont think just doing a new grab means your progressive, i could start doing pole grabs and say im progressive just because its something different.
 
in whiteshine he does it on the same ski, whereas here he is grabbing both....

drunk driver, octograb...eh, cool names either way.
 
first off, i am a huge fan of gagnier. I think his cool tricks are progressive in every sense of the word, and intensly sick. I can however sympathize with those who hate on some of his tricks as being "unstylie". I would disagree personally but to each his own. However, this trick is so far beyond the realm of regular steeze that anybody who truly hates on it deserves to be pushed into an abyss while covered in hungry piranhas. 
 
I'm not saying what you say is false...I think Vanular's new stuff is very progressive and mahre also...but how is it you can say that their stuff is progressive, and not gagnier's ?

rail 270 out...already existed

corey combined them

tail grab...already existed

nose grab...already existed

charles combined both

What's the difference ?
 
i think its funny theres all these people who can only do a 180 and love to say that a cab 10 octograb is not progressive
 
exactly. although the figure skating move was completely out of left field. skiing hasn't seen a move like that since the demise of acro.

gagnier's style is refreshing. he finds new things to do that don't require absurd risks. i enjoy watching flips onto rails . . . but someone is going to get killed, paralyzed, or at least seriously disfigured if that trend picks up. skiing needs new ways of being on the rail, instead of just new ways of getting onto the rail.
 
i think figure skating might be cool if they got rid of the gay tights and gay music and just went for the biggests spins ever
 
anybody can just put differnet spins together, thats not creating anything. That grab is brand new, nobody has tryed it out before. He created something. Just putting spins together is nothing, anybody can go up to a rail and say "Well you can do this on to it, and then spin this on it, then spin this out of it".....but it takes alot more to be like "Well what if i grab this ski like this, and then grab this one....holy shit i invented a new trick."

Every pro rider do something new each year.(candide=switch cork 630 mute to rail)(jon=kangorouflip)(tj=switch 1440)(corey=flat810 to rail)(sammy switch up 540)etc.but charles create a NEW grab .2 year ago was the truck driver .this year is the octograb. next year a dont know .that is EVOLUTION
