Chance to go to Tokyo.

This summer my chem. teacher offered kids in my grade to take a trip to Tokyo for 3 weeks next summer. The first week will be spent with a host family in Chiba, Tokyo. The last 2 would be spent sight-seeing in southern Japan. This seems like a great opportunity and I'd love to go but it costs roughly 3000$ and my parents told me I'd have to pay half. So I'd be paying around 1500$ depending on whether or not my uncle chips in a little. And since I'm a junior in hs I'm not exactly loaded, basically it would cost me most/all of the money I make this winter. So my questions for you guys are...

1. Have you taken similar trips with your school before?

- How was it?

-Was it worth it?

2. If you were given this opportunity would you go?

3. Have any of you been to Tokyo/S. Japan?

-How was it?

*The 3000 includes everything, transportation, housing, etc. except spending money.

All serious replies are appreciated,

I live in Hokkaido right now and have been to Tokyo a number of times now. It is definitely worth the trip, especially if you are interested in Japan. That part of the country is really beautiful. One thing to consider is it will be hot as balls in the summer

research your options. are you going to university? they offer way better trips imo. plus if you keep your grades up you can get grants and scholarships to pay for a lot of the trip. i went for 3 months for 5k i think. do you like the kids in your class? could you spend that long with them. 3 weeks is pretty short though

you should go if you can find 1500$. i will never forget the trips ive taken

then go again in university

agreed with everything in this post, excellent work

trips like that are things that you will never forget and benefit you in a really fundamental and awesome way.. so if you can go without being totally irresponsible and fucking yourself over and you think it's the best bet, id say go for it

I went in college for free, and I was old enough to rage in Tokyo (which in my opinion was sicker than Ibiza and Yacht Week). If you think you might ever have a chance to do it in college, hold off. Otherwise $3000 is a good price for that trip.
