i am having the hardest time about this decision. theres no way i am waiting for regular decision because i just cant. i have to know by december. so champlain has a better graphic design program, which is what i want. and they both have study abroad programs.

the only thing is that champlain is binding.so if u get in u have to go there, no matter what. so basically im just unsure of the whole thing. im pretty much 100 % pumped on champlain, but i dont want to miss out on anything that uvm might offer that would be important for me to take advantage of.

i just want to be really pumped on my choice.even if i get into both schools by early decision.

i just dont want to be disappointed that i would have to go to champlain if i got into uvm also. BUT I have to know where i am going before xmas break. i am just way too impatient to wait until march.

soooo...i dont really know what im asking right now but does anyone have any huge reasons that uvm would be a better school for me?

ps. and they both have freeskiing clubs

its not too hard to get into. you need at least like a 1650 on the new SAT..or something around that..3.0ish GPA good classes, extra curric. n other stuff.

but they are def getting harder to get into and ps u should do community service.i hear they like that

both are good schools great town i had a the same delemia 7 years ago i decided agains UVM went to Green MTN college. look at the big picture where you wanna be when your out. UVM is totally different. i like the smaller sceene thats what i was used to i knew my professors i knew what i wanted to study going in versus just going through the routine and not knowing what i wanted to do after college.. Check out St Micheals college too good stuff aswell..

good luck.

yeah..i had an interview at st.mikes'. good school as well but i wont resort to it until i have to. but yeah..

thanks!!!

i graduated from uvm, so i'm partial to the university. they are however, weak on graphic design as a major. you can probably design your own major around design.

uvm defintely has much higher admissions standards which is good when you're looking for a job, but really, that only goes so far. local companies will see uvm and think, "oh wow, that's pretty impressive" and will not think as much about champlain. champlain is growing, so that could change. once you leave vt, most people probably won't care where your degree is from.

uvm won't limit you if somewhere along the line you decide to do something different. so that's a plus. lots of choices and other classes that will help you find a niche in your industry.

your best bet is to look at what you can afford/want to pay back if you need loans. uvm could bump you up in the job market but it is not necessarily a given.

make sure to intern whenever/as much as possible. there used to be more ski companies in town to give you those offers, but you can still get creative and get the experience. look to JDK (Jager DiPaolo Kemp), Kelliher Samets Volk, Fuse Marketing, or Burton for some good graphic design internships.

good luck. have fun, burlington is awesome (st. mikes is way out in winooski ,so you won't get the full on burlington experience there). you'll meet fun people to ski and ride with everywhere.

I'm a Camp Champ Grad. I had the best 4 years of my life up there. Skied 140 days a year, learned how to slide rails, worked for Line Skis in its infancy and began doing rail jams with Parks and Rec departments, all because I was affiliated with Champlain. The school is great for business people. Not because of accedemics or any of that. I liked it from a business man's stand point You can create scheduals that work. IE: Because I had the Line affiliation, I had a schedual that allowed me to ski every single day. Because I had the Parks and Rec relationship, I did rail jams on campus. I graduated on time with a great GPA because you have small class sizes, and my classes were based on presentations and papers, not bullshit tests. (although they were thrown in there)

as mentioned before, the college is growing, so with it, its perception by others grows with it.

Dorm living was awesome because you aren;t in cinder block cells (uvm) and you are close to down town (some dorms only a couple blocks from church street)

Burlington is awesome and has a shuttle service that runs the hills, so you can longboard your balls off! you;re 40 minutes from stowe and the bush (ride the fly www.flysugarbush.com ) and its VT so there's some good stuff out of the GREEN mountains

fluff knows his sh*t. right about the cinder blocks. one other thing about burlington that i don't think was mentioned here... BTV and Jet Blue... cheap flights to SLC & Denver (via JFK)... when you need to go.

A few things.

UVM is incredibly nice, but as it stands right now, a friend and I are almost 100% sure we're heading to Champlain.

He's a business major, and the program there is outstanding, lots and lots of opportunities and overall it's great.

I like you will be doing a hybrid major consisting of marketing/comm/advertising and media arts/graphic design....the program, facilities, and technology is real great. I talked to the director of the Media Comm department there, and the guy knows his shit....art history, libreal arts, color, history, and design...he believes in it all.

UVM dose not have a program really worth looking at for Graphic design, espically with Champlain literally right next door.

UVM is bigger with more money and funding...but Champlain's buildings and tech are super up to date or brand new...plus the dorms are nothing close to cinderblocks...

Yes it's a small school but over 17,000 students with the community college, uvm, champlain, and st. mikes in burlington...plus the city itself is totally dope.

Then we all know about northern VT skiing.

HOORAYAYYYY!!!! thanks so oooo much u guys. i have all my crap together now and im applying early to champlain. your advice has only helped boost my confidence in my decision.im binding that shit let me tell uuu
