The Chamberlin Winter Carnival is making it’s debut in Bozeman, Montana. Formerly Rail Jam alone, will now feature Mehem Snowmobile Freestyle, Avalanche Transceiver Park and headlining concerts. The premier urban ski and snowboard event in the region heeds an unforgettable spectacle, drawing record crowds and raising the bar for winter events. In 2014, the Rail Jam will host 60 athletes competing for top honors.

Tate put on something that skiers actually care about.How much money do you make on ticket sales and spend on the music? and bringing goddamn snowmobiler xxxxxtreme fest.

put some actual money up for the athletes and bring in some real competition (rails2riches, warofrails anyone?) you also might get some more athlete entries if its not 50 bucks to enter. and fuck get some acts that somebody actually wants to see. rusko, swayze, sol?? come on. GZA playing was the fucking shit lets see some dope artists again not this high school molly hype bullshit.

It really blows to see such a good (and one of the few) opportunities to raise the level of competition here in mt be completely blown in every fucking way.
 
The rail jail has gotten worse and worse each year since Bassnectar and GZA played in 2010. And now it goes from two days to one. I really don't understand how this is possible. Either the rail jam makes no money each year so they have to skimp and get worse and worse artists or something else is going on.

I used to look forward to going to the rail jam to listen to some good music and watch my friends ski, but now it has become, as Jeremy says, some high school molly xxxxxtreme festival that is only a day long with artists who are out of their prime. But what do they care. They probably make their money and are happy.
 
Well I had high hopes for my first Chamberlain jam, but I must say I was disappointed, and glad I didn't compete. The ski qualifiers and finals were fun to watch, despite the setup being one of the slowest and sketchiest I've ever seen. They made me dump my water bottle at the door, and I asked if it was a fucking airport, but the idiots working there weren't amused. Also there was no seating for the 1hr jams, so standing in the cold was pretty weak.

I was actually stoked to see some sledneck big air, but they bailed because it was too windy both days. Huge bummer.

Pretty sick skiing, but for what they charge for admission, they could have put together a much better event for the athletes and the spectators.
 
sounds like this year was a fucking travesty. way to go guys. you made a setup that was so sketchy people were literally falling off the sides of the scaffolding. only one girl showed up to ladies snowboard finals and won by default because all the other ones who qualified didn't want to ride that shit again. a rail lit on fire? main headliner cancelled? here's a novel concept, maybe if you stopped having music that people are more inclined to do stupid amounts of hard drugs while listening to, you can host it at big sky again. they'll probably allow it again if there aren't a bunch of highschoolers overdosing on what they think is molly and are too stupid to know otherwise. bring back the days of GZA.

This is true however the primary reason Big Sky refused to host it this year was due to the obscene amount of young people who needed medical attention due to overdosing. And the music they've had at the past few rail jams has definitely been the kind of shit people are more inclined to do more than drink and get high while listening. Idk I just think bringing in artists that appeal more to the general populus of the gallatin region would make more people stoked on the event and bring in more revenue so they dont have a fucking 2 1/2 feature rail jam built on haybales, pallets and scaffolding.
