Challenge Alaska

so recently i moved to AK. i was getting stoked for ski season and trying to think of a way to ski as much as possible for as cheap as i can.(aka free) so my brother suggested volunteering at this program called challenge alaska, a place that teaches handicapped people to ski and snowboard. Seemed like a great idea since ive never done anything like that, so i went to some clinics and meetings. I was all set, but then i picked up a full time job being a liftie and got my free pass and money, therefore not volunteering at all, so now i feel guilty. i do plan on volunteering a few times just to give back, and experience something new. It is a really awesome program and i was just wondering if any other mountains have anything like this, or if anyone has done similiar volunteer work? do i look douchey for not volunteering?

I was in the same boat when I moved to Bozeman a couple years ago. I ski with a program called Eagle Mount which also helps special needs skiers. This season will be my 3rd doing it. I get to freeski a 1/2 day for free after a 1/2 day of lessons with the kids...but I'd say the best part is skiing with the kids...give it a shot and you'll realize that you end up getting more out of it than they do.
