Chalkboard VS Whiteboard

i've never seen a whiteboard in a lecture hall but that would suck so bad. I meant more for crushing some problems on the board (at short distance).
 
Chalkboards. My college history teacher used a chalkboard and he would always run his fingers through his hair so as the day wore on his hair would get whiter and whiter. Best teacher I ever had.
 
Glass whiteboards are way cooler then anything else though.

Hold the chalk in an angle opposite of what you normally would, if you move fast it skips and bounces so you get that dotted line.
 
I would rather use a chalkboard than a whiteboard. I would rather have AIDS than use a smart board.

I've used chalk all my life so it doesn't feel weird to write with, and if I can see that I'm holding a stick of chalk I know I have chalk. Not like trying to find which whiteboard marker hasn't run out yet.

However, most people find it easier to use a pen.

Almost all the lecture theatres in my department use chalkboards, and when we've been relocated to somewhere with whiteboards they're always far harder to see from a long way back. The contrast on a chalkboard is so much better.
 
Agreed. They offer nothing other than making high school kids watch exceptionally dull power points that probably weren't even written by the teacher.
 
I have the biggest pet peeve for the squeaks chalk can make on a chalkboard. It gives me the chills every time I hear it. And the feeling of writing on a chalkboard is almost as bad. On the other hand, I love the feeling of writing on a whiteboard. I used to love being called up to write on them when I was younger. I could write/draw on them all day.

yeah it depends

whiteboard for math/physics

smartboard for any class with pictures/maps/diagrams that cant be drawn easily

but the projector aspect of the smartboards always bugged me
 
Smart boards are the devils.

Normal whiteboards are so much better than glass whiteboards which aren't as good as black boards but only slightly.
 
anyone who says "smart board" should not be a part of this discussion. You know how many significant discoveries have been made on a smartboard?

hey man this is my opinion! but yes youre right. most of my legit teachers have made complaints about whiteboards/advocated chalk, says its more trustworthy
