Chainsaw Fun

Hello NS,

I was just outside cutting wood with my chainsaw when it slipped and cut open my thigh. I'm fine, but it scared the shit out of me. As soon as it happened I thought, well, this sucks, then I thought, I bet something worse has happened to someone on NS! So Newschoolers, what's your worst chainsaw experience?

It's just a little cut, nothing big. Looks like I feel off a bike onto pavement, but my mommy was tweaking out. It was quite funny actually.

once had a chain snap at full speed and fly right by my shoulder cutting straight through my thick jacket, sweater and t-shirt only scraping the flesh; i was quite lucky ..... :)

well seeing by most these replys most people prob dont live in the sticks like us... i did the same thing you did, thankfully i had some heavy jeans on tho so it hooked onto my jeans and stopped the saw cause i was using an old sthil (still cuts better than my new one) and i was cutting above my head of a tree that was over a trail...(not smart) but the saw bucks...i bring it down...no chain brake on this one...and it hooks my leg...thankfully only a small cut. healed up on its own

So now for the past 2 hours my flesh wound has been leaking a strange, clear sticky fluid, and it's fucking with my see through band-aid.

The guys I work for are really fucking cheap, so if the brake on a chainsaw stops working. They won't fucking fix it. So what I do is everytime I slow it down, and it's basically stopped, I just stop it on my chainsaw pants.

My boss yelled at me, then I was cutting through a pile and the chainsaw bucked, and cut partway into my helmet before it stopped. Next day I had new chainsaw pants and a brand new Stihl, brake and all.

Its a fucking chainsaw, man up. dont try to sew anyone, how the hell did you cut your thigh open??? how has noone asked this yet??

normally people cut thier faces because of kick back, but how the heck do you cut open your tigh.?

You're cutting wood like an idiot(probably has his foot on the log) and it bucked when it hit something harder than it could cut. Came up, brake didn't stop it and it chewed into his leg.

Fuck yeah chainsaws. Nothing better than going out with my dad and sawing down a few trees father son style. I got my Maine blood in me.

I work for a tree business so there are always some questionable safety moments.

I have a bad habit of laying the blade on my thigh while the saw is spooling down and i always cut the shit out of my chaps.

I also had a close call when i had a massive kickback with a 250 and the tip went into my hardhat, barely missing my face.

no accidents but we took down a huge tree in our backyard it was about 20-25 metres tall and i pretty much just climbed up with a chainsaw and just ripped down the branches one by one.

Well i do logging as a hobby with my uncle and dad, we have a sawmill, logging winch, multiple tractors, saws and everything need, and we own property and do small jobs, and i have never had a close call with a chainsaw at all, we all have protective gear (hard hats, chaps, etc.) but we take it easy and play it pretty safe.
