centre mount, or no centre mount?

hey. just got some dynie TM's, and am ready to mount some bindage. i treeski and like all mountain carving etc... and liek to play in the park. is centre mountin a good thing? will it make my usual carving squirrely or feel different? what do you have and what do u think?! thanks

Lots people here go a few cm back from center, some kids who spend all their time in park go true center. I'd be really surprised if ANYONE is mounted forwards from center, unless it is a joke on some old shitty skis. If you play in the trees/pow alot, and are mounted too far forward your tips will dive in the powder. There is a reason why all the 40-50 year old backcountry powderhounds are mounted so far back. They know what works in 4-5 feet of fresh.

yeah, go 2-3 cm forward. i had tms last year, and the standard mount left the ski nose heavy on rails. im gonna go 3 i think.

When you guys say 2-3 cm forward of center, its not the actual center so don't call it that. It is wear the ski recomends you mount your bindings. If you went past True center, god bless you, you are a pimp.

I agree. Especially Gay pride. There's gonna be a war over that one soon. Unfortunately, one of the armies will spend way too much time designing their military camo, and this will prove their downfall... -J.D._May

yeah going 3 cm past actuall center would be nuts, you would have to ride intirly switch your whole sesson, but hey that might not be a bad idea

like 3 cm back is perfect

true center is the best.. gives you a nice forward progressive stance and is the only way to ski switch efficiently

Beware the terrible ACL

WARNING: Do not mount center unless you are willing to give up turning speed. If your used to making quick, tight turns, like you would in the bumps, you will mot like a center mount for all mountain sking. If you spend ALL your time in the park, go crazy....but there will be a difference when you remove yourself from the confines of the park. I personaly mounted a pair of 4FRNTs center, and it sucked once I left the park....think it over.

skiinstead, zachd was talking about mounting skis 2-3 cms forward from TRUE center, hes just weird like that or somthing

...............................................................................................

i had my skis mounted 2 or 3 inches back from center last year and it sucked. i dont suggest mounting really far back. i think id go with center mounted

mine have 6 cm between recommended mountpoint (modern on scratch) true center. I am splitting the difference, 3 cm forward of the recommended= 3 cm back from core center, same thing.

Duffman can't breathe .. oh no

^ no, the modern mount point for the Scratches is still a few cm back from true center. not sure how many though.

my pe's are at +3.5 from center.

im tempted to get them remounted like +4 more...

doesthat make sense?

i feel nose heavy on rails, and i skiboarded so turning is fine if shitty...

Quote of the week: mabye we should chain you to a tree in africa and have a buche of homo's with aids do you and show you that your gay.

my enemies are mounted way back its fine in switch and everything this 'nose heavy' stuff is just saying 'im gay' but it does make it slightly harder, but its pretty simple really: park rat- centre. non park rat: behind centre. Right?

i just got some new scratches that were centermounted which i think the line was in between modern and the normal line

actually, that guy up there is wrong^. the farther forward you go of sidecut center (where most skis recomended mounting point is), the turnier your ski will be. the farther back, the more stability you will get. and yeah, i would go 2-3 cm forward of sidecut center. thats what i meat to say in my first post.

centermount if you wont leave the park, a centermount in trees or pow will make the ski all squierly and not good

i was also trying to decide where to mount my 181 cm 1080s, i think i'm gonna go like 2 or 3 inched in front of their recommended mark or right on it

Are you feelin me? I'm on a killin spree.

There's nothing to lose when noone knows your name.

I have my TM's always mounted at +2 of reccomended and I like it.

Ski companies spend big dollars and many hours developing there skis and where best to mount them. Buy moving the binding around it is going to effect the performance of the ski in regard to flex patterns and getting the best performance out of them. I am a backcountry skiier and I still dont mount my ski back at all. I would never mount center unless the ski never left the park. Having not skied a true center mount, how much diference does it make for your spins? I can still spin my gotamas alright and they are mounted standard. So if you have a litle park ski, surely it woundnt matter were it is mounted. If you have good rotation you should be sweet at the recomended spot. But if you a crunking big rotations maybe forward could help e.g. >540

Yeah I think it's all personal preference and it also depends on the ski. Like Lines are made to be mounted at the center. And the Scratches have 2 mounting points. Last year the skis I had a mounted at the balance point or midsole for alpine skis. I didn't like it becasue I had a stiff ski and they always wanted to run out from under me. So this year I'm going to try moving them up 2 or 3 cm. If you really don't know what you want I'd say just split the difference and go half way between center and the midsole mark. Look at a pair of K2s with the little chart on them for assistance.

when the disigners or pros test the ski, they test it mounted on the mounting line. so dont go too far away from the line unless you are very familiar with the ski
