Anyone know the deal with this place? I've been looking into their environmental science and outdoor leadership program. Their partnership with NOLS looks very intriguing. I want to get training to be a mountain guide/backcountry guide and also it looks like I could do that with their 2 year and transfer it into a bachelors focusing on sustaiable building/farming practices right nicely. Is Riverton chill? How far to Jackson Hole? Anywhere else cool to ride? Good backcountry for touring and what not around? Their website talks a lot about living on campus but not much about living off campus, how's housing in Riverton? Should I look elsewhere, is this a complete waste of my time?
 
couldn't even begin to give you advice on the college, i know next to nothing about it.

I don't remember the last time i was in riverton, even though i was born and raised in casper. but if riverton is like any of the other towns in that area,(central southern wyoming) it's gonna be pretty lame.

As for skiing, jackson and red lodge are both about three and a half hours away. Casper has a little tiny hill thats two hours from ya.

As for backpacking(touring?), you're only an hour away from dubois, which is at the foot of the wind river mountains. I've gone bighorn sheep hunting and camping out of there a few times, and it's some of wyoming's most drop dead gorgeous country. Google pictures of the wind river range and you'll know what i'm talking about.

 
Wyoming sux ballz, the fact red lodge was mentioned as a destination for skiing only proves that point. As far as skiing goes it's on par with North Dakota.
 
Ya, Wyoming really blows. No places to ski and no powder.

yeah jackson sucks! You guys shouldnt come here. And tell your friends to stay away as well. I heard Brighton is killer and so is Aspen. Stay away from teton county.
 
dont worry kid. You wont see me at the VC. I'm in the parking lot drinking 6 packs of Budweiser and yeah talking about how sick four pines and granite were.
 
Im sure you'd have the same attitude if you were in my shoes. Maybe not though. You'd probably be selling mommy's cheezcake to all the gorpers grabin slices at the VC. I bet if it was granola cheezcake you'd make a killing...
 
Man im so sorry for labeling you, I have it all wrong... Funny thing is i'll be working in the parking lots, dealin with all the low lifes tryin to swindle a $2.50 egg mcmuffin from the VC to park in the $12 lots. Fuckin low lifes
 
No worries man. Yeah I wasnt born in WY but Ive been here slugging it out living in garages and on couch's below the poverty line just to make it work. What lot are you gonna be in?
 
The sarcasm didnt catch. I just get fed up with the scene in Jackson these days. Its gotten about a thousand times worse since I left for college. Poverty and ski bum go hand-in-hand, hence the term "Ski-bum". Don't get me started on trustafarians.

I never know what lot I'm in until I show up. Can't be leakin insider info. Its cutthroat out there.
