Center mounting

i asked the shop to put 2 cm back from center mount and i got them back and they just centermounted them and i was wondering if 2 cm would make a difference and i also got lifters would those help too? i ski mostly park but i want to beable to turn when i go out west
 
yeah what size skis and how big are you, but i just got my skis mounted a month ago then i went to try on my boots and was like WTF to small got new boots all that crap, went to re adjust my binders, i luckly hadnt mounted my ants yet so i was set there, urbans adjusted fine with the scratch 120s, but my ar5s brand new just mounted with old p12s cause i love the semi turntable dont have enough movement, so i needed a remount, but luckily i told the -2cm last time they mounted them and they put them center so now im getting them mounted where they should be
 
not a huge deal, as for the lifters it depends on what you find more important, carving or jumps/rails. carving is defiantely better with lifters, rails are definately better without. If you like rails better and wanna take the lifters out it shouldn't be a big deal your shop probably has the screws you'd need so it'd take like 5 minutes. dont bother remounting definatley not worth the extra holes.
 
dude! that kind of happened to me today. I went to get my THA 187s mounted and I told them I wanted them 3cm behind TRUE CENTER, and I showed him that that equaled 1cm behind CORE CENTER, which is actually marked on the ski. I showed the tech how I measured following the contours of the ski and he said he's take care of it. I got them back today and the dumbass mounted them .9cm forward from where I wanted them. In essence they were mounted at .1cm back from core center. I know .9cm doesn't make much of a difference, but it goes to show that you REALLY need to talk to the tech to make sure they understand what you're saying since most of them are used to people having no clue what to ask for.
 
i have last year trouble makers 165 and im 5 8 and i still want to beable to turn cause we have some narrow trails i got the look px12 lifter so should i bring them back and get them remounted
 
165's and your 5'8"??? dude i'm 5'8" and skis 181's..

this is just a suggestion, but get some longer skis man

i think it seems pretty big, i follow the rule of having the ski meet your forehead or eye level, if it goes lower then its getting short.
 
if you ski any all mountian go a little back.

but all park and you actually ski switch as much as regular then center
 
181 is a bet excessively large for a park ski for someone who's 5'8" I hate how pros use mad long skis so people on here think they're the bomb for having super long skis.
 
i told the guy at my shop to mount my skis -2 from true center, and he actually got it right.
 
its not any harder to turn.. your edge grip just isn't as good, so your skis have a tendency to skid they're turns moreso than they would, but big turns on groomers really makes no difference you can still carve. it changes how you ski a little bit, but I think its fun.
 
a shop did something like that to my skis, i asked for 2cm back of core centered and they weren't center mounted at all, just mounted regular, but i don't know if remounting them will damage the ski.
 
why the fuck didnt u demend the shop replace ur skis?!?! u should have gotten some longer ones and then mounted those true center
 
i highly doubt they will buy you new skis for mounting them wrong. unless it was a complete fuck up mount then they might. but i wouldn't get my hopes up if i was you.
 
the number one rule when it comes to gettin ur shit mounted in a shop is if the fuck up, u get to take whatever u want from the floor. its like u got ur skis mounted wrong, so u HAVE to remount them to get them how u want, this weakens the integrety of the ski, so u should have the right to get new ones if the shop fucks up. the shops will hate u for it, but they cant say no.
 
on another note, i can see them saying no if ur skis are used but if they are brand new, there is no reason u shouldnt get new ones, they also might have a problem with it cause u didnt demand them right away before u left
 
my skis are a year old but thier in awsome condition except all the holes they drilled in them so would they take those
 
i dont know if i should bring my skis in and get them 2 back cause the guy said to test them out and i kind of want to try them out too but i have to instruct too so i might need them back alittle but i also dont want any more holes in them either what should i do
 
yo i hate that wen shops think they kno wuts best for u so they just mount it where they feel like it. Same thing happened to me last year, asked for 2cm back, got true centered

 
3 times seems a bit sketchy for the integrity of the ski... i dont know, i think the bottom line is that you don't need them center mounted. i wouldn't stress about it too much.
 
You'll be fine man, I have Dynastar TMs that are 165's and I'm even a little bit taller than you (Only weigh 135 though). They are mounted true center and I love em, its not that big of a deal. With the 2 cm back they mounted you at you will hardly notice it in the park and it will make them just a little bit more all-mountain capable.
 
I dont think it makes that much of a dif (2cm). the only thing you might notice is how they ski switch. itll be better.
 
do you think ill still be able to ski in the bowls in utah and colorado fine with true center if not what do you reccomend putting them back to i ski moslty park probly like 85% but i still want to have fun skiing other than park when i go on trips
 
A center mounted ski will give you the most horrendous tip dive ever if you take them into any sort of soft snow. I have found that the difference between true center and -2 is really noticable because you're going from having a park-only ski to something that has a little front tip on it. You will struggle skiing powder on those, but some people say that you get used to it. Personally, I'd rather have something that actually floated than get used to a ski that sinks like a rock.
 
but other than the powder stuff are you fine on carving and stopping or does that get harder too with true center
 
how about i put my 2cents in. Most people on this site don't need centre mounted skis, or bindings with out lifters. If your just skiing for fun, then it really doesn't matter. On a non simetrical ski centre mounting fucks up the way the sidecut is suppost to work. If you don't rock the comps every week-end, and have just like to have fun with your buds, then mount them on the suggested line with whatever you want.
 
i ski lots of park and i do have bindings with lifters but im afraid that when im not in the park ant some time that i wont beable to turn or when i do hit something in the park not beable to stop well after i hit it
 
raisers help your carving... and yes it will make a difference, i have my fujatives at core center and i mounted my salomon 1080's at true center and i can still tell a difference every time i ride them.
