Center Mount Compensation

I was wondering about the relation of ski length to the mounting position of the ski if you center mount it. Since technically you are equaling out the length of the tip and tail instead of having one longer than the other, would you order a longer ski length?

This is regardless of rocker, type of skiing, etc. Just want to know if it is wise to get skis longer when center mounting to add more overall area to ski on in both directions.

unless you used to ride ridiculous far back, i don't think you're gonna have any trouble, in theory you might be better off a bit longer if you center mount, but on the other hand, i don't think the difference in length before and after the binding is gonna be that noticeable ....

for me i personally get parkskis that go till between eyes and forehead, and usually mount near center

and rockered powder skis i always take 1 size bigger so they're at least as tall as i am .... (my current ones are 2 or 3 back from center)

in short i think you're worrying a bit too much about something small like that .....

I get what he's sayin....and I've said this in a previous post but long story short, last year I ended up riding a buddies center mounted 172 bacons for about two days doin mostly park/bc booters....friggin fun as heck....and I'm 6'1" and 193lbs....seriously they felt like ultra glorified skiboards....I had so much fun on them that I was thinkin bout starting to press my own skis cause I thought I was on to somethin....lol....so dude the length thing is all preference and you shouldn't need to compensate due to mounting position....if your comfy with your current length you'll be fine with a center mount....either way it'll take some getting used to if ya haven't done it and may land a little forward or backward landing switch but after a few runs ya should be good...I personally mount -1 on park/all mountain, dead center for dedicated park, and -2 for freeride/bc skis...

Oh and length wise I ride 178 park, 181 all mountain, and 184 for freeride/pow...some will tell me 184 is too short for me but again, it's all preference and they're super maneuverable for me in the trees....
