hey i have access to both the 1080 171 and 161, i busted the 161, im 5-7' and want somthign center mounted, iv heard that the 161 are too short, what shoudl i do?

your question is very unlcear....i would help you if i could, but you make no sense. Are you asking.....are the 1080 center mounted?? Or should I get the 171.

sorry, im saying which of the two would be bettr to center mount or at leastmove the bindings up, im 5-7' and im not sure if the 161s would be to short

shit, i landed on my head agian

Why are you center mounting a ski?? Skis turn retarded when they are center mounted. Besides, twins are mounted more forward anyway and it won't really help that much spinning.

the reason they center mount twins is to give you more stability on landings and increased turning ability while skiing fakie.

FUCK the police

my intire crew waited for his ass at the bottem of the hill and beat the shit out of him. i broke his poles agianst a tree, and we snapped one of his skis. fucker got uppercutted so much. he was bleeding from his eyes and shit, crying like a little pussy. i busted out a body slam on his ass and broke both of his arms. the ski patroler broke up the fight and clipped all of our tickets. we where gonna beat the shit out of the patroller but my mom came to pick us up.

I would never allow a friend to center mount a ski designed non-center. The binding mounting point is put at a specific place on the ski because that's where the sidecut is centered.

Pretty much any of today's twins will have plenty of tail to take off/land switch comfortably.

yo my 1260's are center mounted 164's an i am 5'8' they are smoking. i spin like no other and rails are like a dream. turning is not that hard it takes like two runs to get use to it

only center mount the ski if the factory recommand it other wise you will be not be riding on the ski's true radius and therefore making the ski 'park only'.

Depends on what year 1260s they are, they used to be designed to be a center-mounted ski.

i have 178 concepts. and the stock mounting setting is perfect. lots of tail, lots of tip.

Life sucks, get a fucking helmet

my friend center mounted his skis himself, and rivited his own skis, they look so ghetto and the bidings make it look even better, haha i dunno if it helps with skiing but center mounting improves gridgin stability like crazy

Don't mount a ski in the center unless it is designed for it... and dude why do you have 161s... you are 5'7... you sould have 171 1080s... (which is pushing it for shortness... 175 ski would be better) and then you should have a pow ski like a 178 BC scratch or a 175 Pocket Rocket or sumthing

^^^Drop into the Pipe and Smoke it^^^

I will forever stick by my thought that people should always mount the ski to where the line on the ski is put......where the ski is designed for the bindings to be mounted. Whistlerman, I know you know that height doesn't make a difference in what thier ski selection is......don't you?? It seems that this type of discussion always comes up and we always come to the conclusion that weight, type of skiing terrain, speed.......etc. are all MUCH bigger factors than height. What if he's 5'7' 110. Then you gonna put him on a 171? NOPE

ya, i center mounted my concepts, if by center mounting u mean equal amount of space between the toe-tip and back-tail, then ya, i love it, i think it helps a lot skiing switch, do pros center mount?

If you guys are centermounting a ski that isn't supposed to be, you are destined to stay in the park. Taking the ski other places is going to be trouble. You are increasing your chance of having the tail not release from a turn, which in a fall can fuck up your knee.

Also, I have never seen a pro mount their bindings away from the sidecut center. Just look at the US FS Open stuff on this site, and you will see that.

This guy is right, if you're gonna center mount a ski then that ski is useless to the rest of the hill. If you can afford 2 useless pairs of skis then by all means....go for it. But todays skis (like the 1080, Scratch etc.) are designed to satisfy both requests.

a lot of pros mount 2-5cm forward.... but not center. don't center mount skis.

i didn't come here with pants, and i'm not leaving with pants

full agree my 1260's(01 version) are awesome park skis for the park, however i just rode 3ft of powder on them and they were f*****g awesome. no complaints here
