So I just got an orphaned 3-4 week old kitty and it appears that I am in over my head. It wont eat solid food or drink water so im going to the pet store to get a bottle and some cat formula. I've been reading a lot online and it says my kitty could be dehydrated so it might be unsafe to feed him (i think) formula first so it says to feed him a little pedialyte and then formula. How do I know if he is dehydrated? Also any other important things that I might be missing while readiing about raising such a young cat online?

and yes i realize there is probably no one on here qualified to answer these questions but im not a fucking vet and i dont know any so im trying all possible sources for information

maybe it still needs its mommies milk. I know with puppies you dont change them from their moms milk to food/water till after 4 weeks. Then usually another 4 weeks or so until they are good enough to be away from their mom and can eat/drink on their own. Cats might be completely different tho cause theyre gay

Okay I iz kitten lover.

Go to a pet store tell them the situation and ask for the best formula for the kitten, while feeding the kitten use a warm damp washclash and rub its genitals until it uses the bathroom. feed the kitten as much as you can let them know that is malnorished and if you should mix the formula with anything else

if you read the first post you would see it was "orphaned" so it doesnt have a mommy anymore dickhead, and thanks for your personal opinion on cats its really helping me out here

Dude I lol'd so hard at the posts above, but seriously, good luck, I hope everything works out. I once tried to be a friend of a kitty, but it hurt me so I think maybe I'll try a true kitten next time.

Take it to a vet. It will be worth the money. My cat was a stray kitten who wandered up to me at my cabin. It's mom must have died because it was too young to be on its own and was on the verge of dying. We took him to a vet and it cost like $1000 to save him but was the best decision ever. Seriously I'm not even slightly a cat person but that little dude has been one of my best friends for the past 10 years.

if its young and dehydrated you should let it suckle on your nipple so it can get some of the milk and nutrients it needs, that should help it
