Casts and Water

So I broke my fibula at brundage mt in idaho last week. I was carving into the lip to attempt my first 5, and when i was throwing 3's over this table, (about 30 ft, with no lip so you hvae to be going like mach 10 to clear it) I kept coming up slightly short, just barely knuckling, so i was carrying some extra speed and as i wound up a bit, and carved into the lip, i caught an edge and my leg twisted so fast my binding couldn't release, and I rag doled into and over the lip, and for about another 15-20 ft before finally stopping. I felt/heard it break right away, and long story short, I don't want to get all fat and stuff, so I want to exercise and try to stay somewhat fit. The doctor recommended this. Anyone know anything about it? How well it works?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Oh and I forgot to add, that tearing a boot off with a broken ankle is some of the most pain I have ever felt. I almost threw up. So I can only imagine having 2 broken tibulas and then trying to take both the boots off like Tanner. He is a fucking soldier.

thats a cool idea

i decided to post something because i felt bad that your thread was getting no attention and you had to bump

get well soon man!

when i broke my arm the doc just gave me a rubber arm thing

all you had to do was put your hand in it, dip it in the water to get all the air out and then i as fine

they are real cheap to, only about $20

i broke my fibula along with tibia last spring. full leg cast for a month and another plaster cast after that and a brace for a month after that. yeah my doc gave me a bag for my leg. but thats for showering and i got my cast wet a few times it makes it mushy and it loses all its hardness and just becomes soft

yeah but they say that This thing is completely submergable. Does it really work as well as they say?

oh you got a water proof one those are sweet but they take a while to dry out. so just keep that in mind

lol, Dude read my first post. I gave a link to the this one sock thing, that you pump the air oput of it, and it is like vacuum sealed to your skin above the cast, and it says that you can sumberge it, even scuba dive and swim with it, and the cast will stay dry. i was hoping for a waterproof cast, but they didn't offer one.

Man your not going to get fat, and floating in water isn't really going to help. Don't worry I've gone through broken bones and pain.

well I/m naturally kinda chubby, and i workout very often. So if i don't, trust me, i will. And I don't want to just float in water dude haha. Swimming is some of the best overall excercise you can get.

seriously. your doctor recomended it and you come to NS for advise? 6+ years of schooling vs. 14 yearolds on the internet. just go with it if your doc says its good.

That sucks man. I'd get it and test it out, it'll probably work fine. It's only like $40 anyway. And if your cast gets really fucked up and wet, you can probably just go get it cut off and have another put on.

eh, i did come off a little mean, didnt mean it like that. i just think its funny when people are like "dude i ate some raw chicken and i feel sick, should i go to the doctor?"

speaking of fibulas, i fractured my fibula tree skiing by catching my ski under a root/tree kinda thing and skied down and it wasnt too bad. just kept most of my weight on the good leg. first aid thought it was a bruise and 2 days later in the hospital it was fractured, but only took 6 weeks to heal, no cast.

mine smelt like shit after getting it wet

. I broke my arm and got a full arm cast I just held it above my head.
